Perfectly located next to the Carré d'Art (where the grand Nimes Opera House once stood) and Roman "Maison Carré" temple, this is THE place to be in Nimes. There is a modern, fully equipped kitchen, large bathroom with shower, bath and washbasin as well as a separate WC with another washbasin. The apartment overlooks a leafy garden, a real rarity in the centre of this historic town. Equipment includes a flat screen "home cinema" system, an iPod HiFi docking station (compatible with iPhones) and a "business centre" complete with PC and high speed broadband. This location places you within a two minute walk from the "Fontaine Gardens", the wonderful 365 day a year food market and a wealth of restaurants for al fresco dining. It's a very grand place! The apartment had everything we needed. Only slight negative to be noted was the lack of air-conditioning, which made it toasty at night when the temperature was reaching 40 degrees during the day. Right in the centre of Nimes, 10 minutes' stroll through the town to the amphitheatre, with all the shops, bars and restaurants nearby. Highly recommend! ##### Ash G. Nîmes is a relatively small town and this location was central. The highlight was the Les Halles market just a few blocks away. There was plenty of space for us, a couple who both needed private work space as well as living space. The multiple bedrooms imply that a much larger group could be accommodated, but I must point out that there is only a single toilet. Like many grand dames, the apartment is showing her age a bit in wear and tear, but nothing that would keep me from giving it a high recommendation. This is because the location is beyond superb. Walk in any direction from the front door and you will be at a major attraction within minutes, if not seconds. I was pleasantly greeted by the owner who provided a tour and a welcome basket of fresh fruit, baguette and other treats.The beds were comfortable and a closet-full of linens made hosting a few visiting friends easy. However, the apartment does need some maintenance, especially several of the French windows and shutters, some of which appear to be warped and will no longer close securely. Minor deficiencies such as loose floor tiles, non-functioning lights, a stained, old kitchen sink, no window coverings in the bathroom, etc also let the place down. The kitchen required a thorough scrub when I arrived and, while it's nice not to have to run out and buy olive oil and other staples on arrival, near-empty bottles of salad dressings and preserves with "best before" dates of three years earlier went straight into the garbage. In fact, garbage was a problem too as, unlike most French apartment buildings, there was no room for garbage and recycling. While there were a few public receptacles in the passageway next door, they were usually full and one had to walk around the downtown area in search of others. But the biggest let-down was the street noise, both the busy main road in front and from the passage beside, which was a main pedestrian route into the large underground parking lot, including large groups of drunk students. ##### Shelley B. The apartment was far larger and more comfortable than usual in Europe; the rooms were large and well laid out. The memory foam mattresses were far beyond our expectation and provided an excellent night's sleep. The kitchen was large enough and equipped well for preparing any meal - we used it virtually every morning and evenings to prepare our meals with no problem. The living room and dining room were well situated for our family gatherings. The owner, Gordon, went out of his way to ensure we had a comfortable stay - even providing a Christmas tree for the holidays. Beyond the comfortable apartment with a very helpful owner, the Diva could not be better situated. Stepping out of the building you look left at a 2 thousand year old Roman Temple, just ahead is a modern art gallery and the historic center of town is across the street.The train and bus station is a 15 minute walk past the exceptional historic Roman Arena, past a dozen or so cafes. The market is several blocks to your left and is filled with a large selection of shops providing meat, fish, produce, cheese, bread, pastry, wine, spices and about anything you could want for your day's meals - what a wonderful way to start your day - along with coffee and pastry. Nimes is an unexpectedly delightful city, easily explored on foot and with a well thought out and modern bus system. The historic center of Nimes is just out the the door of the Diva and worth the time strolling the narrow lanes visiting the historic sites and many shops. The insightful city leadership created a clean, well run city and the Diva is a prefect place to explore it and the countryside. From the Diva's location we were able to visit Avignon, Arles, Montpellier, Aigues-Mortes and the incredible Pont du Gard all by trains or buses while still sleeping for a leisurely morning. No car is needed but if you have one parking is just around the corner and underground. If you want to rent a car they are easily obtained from the train station. My daughters, my wife and I left Nimes with some regret, we loved our visit and the Diva as our home for a short while. We will be back and highly recommend the Diva for any stay in Nimes - the accommodations, location and value for the money can't be beat. ##### John M. There is parking but it is city parking which you must pay for. We spoke with the manager in the parking and he showed us how to get a discount ticket if staying longer than one night. Die Wohnung ist ideal gelegen, fast alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind zu Fuß zu erreichen, gute Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten liegen direkt um die Ecke. Auch als Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge bestens geeignet. Handtücher und auch warme Bettdecken für die kühlere Jahreszeit sind in ausreichender Menge vorhanden.
