It is approximately 100 steps to the Place aux Herbes, the lively central hub of Uzès – a beautiful large square filled with plane trees, a fountain and wonderful shops and outdoor cafes. It is also the location of the twice weekly morning market where you can stock up on local produce, cheeses, meats, flowers, spices, and regional crafts. Maison Sept is located on a narrow, cobbled medieval street, lined with town houses on both sides. There is an art gallery right across the street, and just a few doors down, a bakery - essential for those morning croissants. Two doors down on our side is a lovely inn with a wonderful restaurant. You can enter Maison Sept through two doorways, one directly into the kitchen, a typical south of France entrance, and the other into a foyer at the side of the house. The house dates from the very beginning of the 17th century. Over the years it has been an inn twice, and has housed amongst its various occupants, a notary, a doctor and a maker of stockings. It has been expanded over the centuries and has been meticulously restored, combining ancient details with all the modern conveniences. It is an extremely comfortable and easy house to live in. The kitchen is well stocked and modern, and contains all the requirements, whether you like to just make coffee, or cook elaborate gourmet meals. There is a gas cook top, electric wall oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave oven, blender and food processor, nice stainless steel All Clad cookware and several types of coffee makers (we know what’s important!). At the back of the house, the living room opens onto a private walled terrace. It is cool and shady in the heat of summer, a private oasis where you can have breakfast or a lovely al fresco dinner. An ancient stone spiral staircase winds its way through the 4 stories of the house. There are four bedrooms, two with queen beds, one with a double bed, and one with a pair of twin beds. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the rooms are furnished with French antiques and antique tribal carpets. Two of the bedrooms have balconies that open onto the courtyard below. There are two full bathrooms and a powder room. On the third floor you can unwind in the family room, equipped with internet TV and DVD player. Off this room is a mezzanine that serves as an office and is set up with wireless Internet. You have use of the full laundry room, with both a washer and dryer. You are welcome to use the unlimited long distance telephone service to many countries worldwide. Uzes is a beautiful, magical town to explore and enjoy. It is also a wonderful base from which to explore the region. There are many wonderful Languedoc and Provence destinations within a short day trip drive. We would strongly encourage you to plan your stay to start on Friday or earlier in the week, if possible, so that you can be here to experience the market on Saturday morning. It is one of the most extensive markets in the south of France, and a lovely experience. It has a number of unique art pieces on display. Although the property is a seventeenth century townhouse it has a modern kitchen and bathrooms. We found the house to be very clean. The location in Uzès is perfect, very central but not noisy. Communication with the host Natalka was very good. We also had good communication with the building managers, Annick and Olivier. They met us at house when we arrived. They were both very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this property for a stay in Uzès. Uzes is a fabulous town with all the facilities to make our stay incredible. Maison 7 is in the perfect location, the house is perfect for a couple or a family with everything you need to make your stay unforgettable. The hosts were very helpful and responsive sending us local information on the town and surrounding areas. We met the property manager (lovely Suzie) in the town square and walked 3 minutes to the door where there was a bottle of wine, cheese, baguette, olives, and cherries and lovely fresh flowers to welcome us. We couldn't have aked for a more beautiful home or area. We wish we could bring Maison Sept back home with us. It was truly outstanding. The pictures really don't do the home justice. We loved everything. We stayed in five different places in Europe with our family of six and this was by far our favorite rental. Thank you so much Natalka and Todd. We stayed at le Sept for two weeks in April (four adults, one nine-year-old), and enjoyed it tremendously. The entire house is decorate with great charm, and is very comfortable. The kitchen is exceptionally well-stocked with high quality pans, knives and small appliances, which was highly appreciated when we cooked at home. For two families, the separation between the first living room and a separate large living area on the top floor was super. The is no parking at the house, but we had no problems finding spots nearby. This is truly one of the nicest streets in a beautiful town, and is only a few steps to the Place Aux Herbes and the primary shopping areas within Uzes. Jan 8, 2016 #### Another Happy Christmas in Maison Sept One common thread running through the reviews of Maison Sept is a certain reluctance to praise it too highly in case it is booked up the next time you want to visit - and that goes double for our family as we have just spent a third lovely Christmas there in five years. Still, it would be unfair on the owners not to join in with the other common thread of the reviews - that this is a wonderful house in a beautiful town. Indeed, in our eyes, the most striking feature of Maison Sept is that it is such a short walk from the central square with its regular markets and various bars and restaurants and yet manages to feel so away from it all once you close the front door. Inside, the only real change to the comfortable, spacious and pragmatic set-up we noticed from our last visit is that the WiFi now works strongly all over the house. So, another thoroughly enjoyable trip to Uzes again enhanced by Maison Sept - and next time we visit we plan to have trained the children up to do the breakfast run to the next-door bakery by themselves ... ##### Julian M. The house is situated literally footsteps away from the Place aux Herbes but just out of the main hustle and bustle, so the house is an oasis of calm. It is beautifully decorated in a style sympathetic to its French locale. The beds were very comfortable and the layout of the house is ideal for large groups or families with separate chill out areas. The courtyard area was a lovely place for a glass of local wine and a plate of cheese in the afternoons. The kitchen/dining area was perfect for feasting on the delicious produce bought at the twice weekly market. The Saturday market is a MUST, do not miss it! There are many restaurants to choose from and a large variety of shops & galleries around the village to keep even the most discerning shopper happy. Owners Natalka and Todd were an absolute delight to deal with and Natalka was very happy to answer my many, many questions about the local area. If she didn’t know the answer, she would find out and get back to me! Highlights of our unforgettable week were a visit to Chateauneuf du Pape for wine tasting, a visit to the Pont du Gard, followed later that week by a day kayaking down the Gard and under the Pont and swimming in the local river. There were many happy hours spent just wandering around exploring the village or just sitting in the Place aux Herbes with an afternoon mojito watching the sun set and the fairy lights in the trees twinkle as night fell. Nous avons passer un très beau Noël dans cette maison ancienne d’Uzès rénovée avec beaucoup de goût. La maison était parfaitement chauffée en cette saison hivernale et la cuisine bien équipée très agréable pour préparer des repas de fêtes. Sa situation était idéale à deux pas de tous les commerces qui sont nombreux et de très bonne qualité. Nous avions 2 chiens qui se sont régalés des balades accessibles depuis la maison dans la vallée d’Eure ainsi qu’aux alentours. Il ne manque de rien. L'accueuil d'Annick est efficace et sympatique. La maison est incroyablement bien sutiée, par rapport à la Place aux heurbres, une petite épicerie, une boulangerie, un café, des restaurants. Pratiquement aucune circulation de voitures dans la rue, ce qui contribue à la quiétude de l'endroit. As the title suggests, we loved this property and the town of Uzes itself. Natalka's home is centrally located in Uzes just outside of the town center and, most importantly, is located just across from the best boulangerie and around the corner from the best patisserie in town. The home itself is well furnished and the beds were all comfortable. Our stay was during a sweltering late June but you wouldn't have been able to tell because the stone walls kept everything cool and the AC worked great. The town of Uzes itself is a gem. We visited with our four children and were able to find so much to do with them during the stay. The town has great restaurants (including the one Michelin star La Table d'Uzes) and is near to many great places to visit such as Avignon or Pont du Gard (where the kids could swim and go looking for nature). Our pictures of the kids running through lavender fields are some of my favorite of all time! Finally, Natalka and Annick were super helpful during the stay and were also very responsive whenever we had questions.
