Find hotels in Nidur from CA $17

Nidur is a small village without distinct tourist areas or a wide range of accommodation options; therefore, the best area to stay would be in nearby towns like Mayiladuthurai or Chidambaram, which offer more facilities and are well-connected.

Mayiladuthurai, approximately 10-15 kilometres from Nidur, is a larger town with a selection of hotels, guesthouses, and local eateries. It serves as a good base for exploring the region, including temples and other cultural sites. The town centre, particularly around the bus stand and railway station, offers the most convenience with shops and transport links.

For those interested in a wider range of cultural experiences and slightly more upscale accommodation, Chidambaram is a suitable option, located about 30 kilometres from Nidur. Chidambaram is renowned for its Nataraja Temple, a significant pilgrimage site, and offers a more developed infrastructure for visitors.

The best time to go to Nidur is during the cooler, drier months, specifically from October to March.

This period avoids the intense heat and humidity of summer and the heavy rainfall of the monsoon season. You'll find the weather pleasant for exploring the town and surrounding areas, with average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C. This makes it ideal for comfortable sightseeing and outdoor activities.

Couples often find this time superb for a relaxing getaway. The agreeable weather allows for leisurely strolls through Nidur's historic sites and temples without the discomfort of extreme heat, making for a more enjoyable and intimate experience.

For solo travellers interested in cultural exploration, these months offer the best conditions for visiting local markets and participating in any local festivals that might be occurring.
