Overall, the experience of staying at Monart was enjoyable, with snacks in the main area and great recommendations by the host. One thing to note is that there's no lift, and it's up four flights of stairs! The hostess was very communicative. It's located on the top floor so be prepared to lug your luggage up many steps. The air conditioning works great, so sleeping will be super comfortable. The view is pretty. The building is a located next to the train station and museum. The area is a little shaded as there are homeless people and a park across the street. Large room that is nicely decorated. Gianpaulo was a lovely host and breakfast included was simple but fresh. My only comment is that it would be very helpful to know that there are 6 steep flights of stairs to climb to get the the accommodation. This was a surprise to us when we arrived, and we only found out after we checked in that there was a possibility of using a lift. It is also close to the Anthropological museum (in front of the hotel) and at a walkable distance to the Rione Sanita and to Sta Chiara Convent, as well as many other remarkable churches and points of interest. Near the hotel there is also plenty of restaurants for all prices and tastes, as well as theaters and bars. But the main positive aspect is the hotel itself. Although small (only 3 guest rooms) the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The Monart is incredibly well managed by its owner, Monica. She is nice and welcoming, and she is always there to help you and give you advice and information about everything related to Naples. It is up 3 flights of narrow stairs so if you have heavy luggage, it could be a struggle. The rooms are very clean and fairly well appointed but there is a blue blinking light above the bed that requires an eye mask so you can sleep and the bed is very hard/firm. There was only one sheet and by the morning when the AC finally cooled the room, it was chilly in bed. There is breakfast provided by the host at a shared table with the other guests. The food was nice. The surrounding area is dirty but is directly beside the metro and the MANN (archaeology museum) which is convenient. The cabbie and uber driver both had a bit of difficulty finding the place. The host kindly let us leave our luggage since our plane didn't leave until late afternoon. ##### Susan Stayed 1 night in Sep 2023 ### 8/10 Good #### Stacie Oct 22, 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities The positives: we had everything we needed, the room was clean and stocked, the air conditioning worked nicely which is important in southern Italy, and Monica was great. She was very responsive and helpful and even got someone to help us with our bags up to the room when we arrived. The mini fridge was welcome also for storing beverages. Everything was clean and orderly. The negatives or unexpected things: this isn't a hotel, it's really an airbnb type situation. There is no front desk and the owner isn't on site. If that's important to you then reconsider staying here. Also there are several flights of stairs to the rooms so if that is an issue stay elsewhere or pack very light. Now, had I been staying here by myself I would have been quite concerned. As a New Yorker I'm not easily frightened, however, at night the area is very dark and there is a considerable unhoused/transient issue in the immediate area. It is also right by a subway stop which can be convenient if you are using the subway system but we felt quite unsafe walking back to the hotel at night. It's not a highly traveled area at night so we were often alone out there and there are any dark areas for nefarious people to hide so we were on our guard always. Also, not many places to eat nearby. If you want the prettiest, most touristy part of Naples this is not for you.
