Enjoy the sound of the birds among the trees

Five minutes walk to the centre of town, this charming fully-furnished family home is set among trees in a quiet location across the road from Gleeson Park. This reserve is mainly lawn and trees with a small playground for children, and is suitable for family games and picnics ... bring your badminton net!
Designed and built by an architect in the 1960s, the quirky home has many interesting features including a narrow sky-view strip that runs the length of the roof. Very little has been modified over the years, apart from the original balcony. This was completely rebuilt (2017) to comply with modern building-safety standards.
The master bedroom upstairs has a small bridge that leads across to an elevated private garden with fruit trees.
While the main bathroom has a shower, toilet and bath, upstairs there's a second toilet with hand basin.
Being a chalet style with open stairs, our holiday home is not ideally suited for wee toddlers or the infirm.
Off street parking is available for up to three vehicles.
Special conditions:
Minimum stay 2 nights.
$190 per night for 2 adults, plus $10 per night per extra person.

The accommodation is awesome and close to town. Very quirky with a spacious living area and plenty of comfy couches and easy chairs for everyone. Lovely and clean, lots of extra bedding should you need it, everything has been thought of to make you comfortable. A large bottle of milk in the fridge welcomed us on arrival - sunscreen, tissues and papertowels were a nice touch too. Our host met us onsite, showed us around and explained how everything worked which was very helpful. Fully recommended.

Need a rail on the stairs. Air conditioning installed as extremely hot during the day. The lounge chairs are very worn. The bathroom needs ventilation. The house is not suitable for older people or with mobility issues.

The house is in a great position and is cute and quirky - the right mix of interesting stuff to make it homely and comfortable, and feeling safe enough to put put your coffee cup down without worrying about upsetting the landlord. A great spot to rest and relax.

We really enjoyed our stay in this quirky, character-filled house in Napier. It’s full of Art Deco charm, with unique furniture and decorative pieces to discover throughout. The house itself is magnificent, with beautiful gardens that make it a lovely place to relax.There are, however, a few areas that could be improved to make the stay even better. The shower could do with an upgrade—or at least a thorough refresh, as the mould and worn appearance let the bathroom down. The curtains above the shower also need cleaning, as well as the clear corrugation on the roof. These small details really affect the look and feel of the space.Additionally, the staircase to the top floor would benefit greatly from having a handrail installed, especially as guests often need to carry suitcases up and down.Overall, the house is a wonderful place with lots of character, and with a few updates it could be truly outstanding.

Most AMAZING place to stay!

This was an amazing place to stay!When we arrived, the place had all the lights on, and was so welcoming, and the beautiful fire was on, the lock box meant immediate entry, and the arrival was very welcoming!The home itself is a marvel- the architecture is so beautiful, and for our group of eight adults, (our family and their partners were staying to celebrate our youngest's 18th birthday), it was just perfect!Three levels, so much room to spread out, and warm and cosy, but very spacious! Lots of windows and light, lots of quirky areas- the bridge from the top level to the garden was a highlight for our girl! Fruit trees and beautiful location- a two minute walk from the Faraday museum, right beside the botanical gardens, and so close to town!The owners were so thoughtful- as well as lighting and heating the home for our arrival, they had milk for us in the fridge- the spacious kitchen was so well stocked, and had so many basics- not just tea, coffee and sugar, but lots more! Lots of spare soaps, toiletries etc in case you forget to bring your own! Separate recycling containers as well as the bin in the kitchen meant easy separation of the rubbish. The home itself was an architectural delight, and we loved exploring it! We all said we would have loved to live there- a truly special holiday location, and we had the most amazing time!AWESOME location-for the weekend we managed to fit in the museum, botanical gardens, the aquarium, shopping, market, restaurant n more!
