It is a very short walk to the Ichinose ski area and you can easily take the free ski bus to go to other parts of Shiga Kogen. One ticket gives you access to the whole mountain. I traveled solo and as a female traveler I felt very safe. The hotel is clean but it is definitely a Japanese experience. The breakfast was delicious with a selection of Japanese food to sample. It is worth having dinner at the hotel at least once. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff speaks a little English and everyone was very helpful. The shared bath area was very clean and the main soaking tub was hot! The hotel also rents out gear and it was in very good condition. Take a day to go see the monkey park, you can easily reach it using public transportation. Wifi works in room. Very quiet with comfortable beds. Shiga Kogen is not a western style ski resort but the terrain and the experience are worth checking out.
