Very nice female staff member who spoke some English and provided a Yukata for our 6 year old. Large, excellent room with amazing views. Value for money. Green tea provided. Had mostly private onsen experience ie hardly anyone around for both the outdoor and indoor onsen when we visited in early April 2025\. Only few minutes drive from Snow monkey carpark. The staffs are so friendly and accommodating. The location is a bit inconvenient since we are traveling with my 76 y/o mother, it is about 20min walk to town. However, the staff offered to drive us to town to pickup dinner in a snowy night. The hotel was a short walk from the station with idyllic scenery with beautiful Sakura and mountains. The personelle were super nice and helpful. They provided a free bus ride to the snow monkey park. The room was spacious and comfy. The hotel dinner and breakfast were amazing. Highly recommend the dinner. The onsen was really hot which took some time getting used to but I think that’s part of the experience. Only real downside were the hard pillows which seem to be a theme in Japan. All the staff are friendly and food was great. The onsen was the hottest one we had during this trip to the Nagano area (3 different hotels). Our room faces the river so if you open the window, you can hear the river and mini waterfall. We saw the most amazing sunset at the bridge right in front of the hotel. Hotel is also conveniently located within 15 minutes from the Snow Monkey park, which makes it easy for us to beat the tours by arriving early. ##### Wei Chun Stayed 1 night in Apr 2024 ### 8/10 Good #### Wai Man Mandy Sep 20, 2016 Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort #### Far away, spacious guestroom, helpful staff We drove from Karuizawa, the GPS directed us to climb up and down the mountain, it took about an hour crossing it. There were nice, helpful and polite hotel staff though they could not speak English very well, they tried the best to give a hand. Guestroom was spacious; traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast was served. I was met at the station with a free shuttle to the Ryokan and the staff at the desk were very friendly and could provide service in both English and Japanese. The dinner and breakfast was phenomenal and the view out my window was breathtaking! Staying here allowed me to partake in some must-do things in Japan such as wearing Yukata and using the Onsen. I’m so happy I chose this place and got to experience everything for such a reasonable price! The room was huge with a lovely view towards the mountains. The staff were really helpful and picked us up and dropped us off at Yudanaka station. Breakfast is VERY traditional Japanese, so was a very authentic experience. We walked to the monkey park and back, which took around 1 hour each way. Well worth the visit as the monkeys were amazing. The walk will take you via Shibu Onsen village, which was like going back in time.
