We stayed at this location because we were attending a wedding and the closest other place was more than 30 mins away. The pros of the the W&L motel are that it is clean and low cost & our AC worked well. The rooms are beyond dated and very gloomy. We had to laugh because it was like a bit like a scary movie. They were likely built in the 70s & have never been updated. They are paneled w/ dark brown paneling with minimal lighting. The bedding was clean albeit dark brown as well It is hard to see well at night. The shower was very slippery. Both my husband & I slipped, likely due to the type of cleanser used. No biggie, but it has glass shower doors, so be careful! The drive up access is nice, but it comes at a price. We had people who sat in the chairs in front of our window (rather than theirs...) talking loudly past 2am making it very difficult to sleep. The rest of their group picked up the conversation about 6:30am. The owners are trying to make this as good as the old place can be. I am sure it is hard to do updates, etc. and make a go of it. They do care for the property. The bottom line of this review is that the motel is a low cost place to get some sleep for an evening. I don't recommend it for longer stays. It is not ideal for families with young kids or seniors primarily because of the bathtub/shower. The Washington and Lee was about our only option. However, it was a very comfortable, clean establishment with a nice flat screen TV, refrigerator and small microwave.
