Casa La Paz: Peaceful Paradise– proceeds support Sustainability Center

All proceeds from Casa La Paz fund the animal welfare, environmental and social welfare programs at the Sustainability Center. Caza La Paz is a quiet, peaceful paradise nestled in the forested mountains of Monteverde and is perfect for families or groups of friends. Just minutes from Santa Elena and the Monteverde reserves, this cabin is the perfect home base for all of your ecotourism adventures in the cloud forest! Enjoy exploring the private forest trails throughout our 2.5 hectare/6 acre property, and relax with stunning views of the forest and Gulf of Nicoya from nearly every part of the house.

Casa La Paz (formerly Casa Inspiracion) is a newly renovated, one-story cabin nestled in a lush forest paradise in Monteverde, and is the perfect rustic home. Through the large picture windows running almost the entire length of the house, watch the ever-changing view over the forested mountains of Monteverde and enjoy colorful sunsets from the comfort of the couch or outside in our handcrafted porch swing. We provide you with free organic coffee from our farm in Monteverde for the first morning of your stay for you to settle in and enjoy the tranquil beauty of the surrounding forest.

Casa La Paz features a large whirlpool bathtub for two, plus a bathroom with a large shower. Both the bath and shower have hot water. With a cozy private master bedroom and charming bunkroom, in addition to a large pull out futon, the cabin easily sleeps up to 7 people. Enjoy playing a game or reading from our library collection of children and adult books, Costa Rican guidebooks, and books about local flora and fauna. You’ll enjoy the view while cooking in our fully-equipped kitchen, and the whole family will love sitting down for a meal at our custom-crafted dining table. Of if you’d rather relax, you can enjoy traditional Costa Rican meals cooked by our neighbors from the local community and delivered to you.

Enjoy bird watching while you eat breakfast on the front porch, and later enjoy a sunset coffee or glass of wine from the back porch, which is ready for relaxation with a hammock and hand-crafted porch swing. Sit down at the desk to write a story in our guestbook or look up activities in Monteverde with free Wifi. With over 2.5 hectares/6 acres of private forest to explore via our trails, you will have a great time exploring the famous cloud forests of Monteverde and seeing various plants and animals (including parrots, toucans, and monkeys). Casa La Paz truly is a peaceful place.

You can enjoy the entire house, private covered parking space, and the private 2.5 hectare/6 acre lush forest property that surrounds Casa La Paz. There is a private gated entrance down to Casa La Paz. PLEASE NOTE that our driveway is steep and requires a 4x4 vehicle to navigate to the covered parking space next to the house. If you do not have a 4x4 vehicle, you can park above the driveway in our private parking (we will provide you with more specific information). We are happy to say we now have steps leading to the house from the carport.

We provide guests with the option of ordering homemade meals that are delivered straight to your doorstep! Please arrange with us ahead of time if you would like meals (breakfasts, lunches, and/or dinners) prepared throughout your stay.

Adorable place
We loved our stay in this cozy cabin. The location was stunning although I would not recommend for someone with mobility issues as the walk up/down is steep but there are stairs. The place is rustic and there were some bugs, after all it is literally in the jungle. I thought it was charming. It is the rainy season so the trees grow quickly and thus the view was obstructed. The property manager was very attentive and answered all of our questions. Would stay here again, no doubt.

Quiet hideaway
Casa la Paz is a quiet and rustic hideaway. Don't expect luxury, but do expect lots of birds, hidden trails and a great location. It has a steep driveway, you'll need a 4x4 to reach the house. It's about 15-20 min drive from the centre of Santa Elena and the entrance to most bosque nobuso Monteverde activities.

Peace house
Right on the edge of forest… with howlers and a toucan. A bit rough or rustic, but fun. Very quiet and fairly close to Monteverde.

Great Remote Cabin in the Jungle
The cabin was great! I was very clean and very cozy, the views however, are not quite as they’re pictured due to the growth of the vegetation but they are still great!

This place is the best for getting away. Unplug and relax and just enjoy what is there around you. Distance to santa elena and monteverde is not bad at all and easily drivable.

Rugged Cabin
This wasn't really what I expected.. I am able to rough it but this was quite rugged. Firstly it was extremely difficult for my spouse and I to find as the pinned location sent to us wasn't accurate. The road leading down wasn't actually very difficult our normal non 4x4 vehicle did just fine. The cabin is in a very dark area of the woods which gave it kind of an eerie feeling as the winds were also so strong. There was no view at all from the swing as it is obscured by the trees in front of it. The view is beautiful if you stand in the exact right spot in the kitchen. The hot water for the tub didn't work and I was definitely looking forward to that. The beds were quite uncomfortable with very hard pillows. For the price, this really wasn't worth it to me and we stayed elsewhere our second night.

Lovely peaceful stay !
Casa La Paz is a very serene and peaceful gateaway, we loved it! It was great for relaxing , we especially loved the rainy nights and the early mornings with the sounds of the birds! The neighboring dogs were a lovely addition to our experience - they welcomed us and made us feel at home :))

Room with a view
Clean, rather spartan accomodations, but certainly worth the price. The caretaker is a great cook, we highly suggest having her provide breakfast ($6, roughly). It was extremely windy when we were there (Feb), and unexpectedly cool at night. The house is only 10 minutes from a nice town with good restaurants. We enjoyed our time here and would visit again.

This is a very rustic and beautiful place to stay. It doesn't have all of the creature comforts of a hotel. This is a very authentic place. The hosts and care takers are incredibly hospitable. We could not have had a nicer stay. The driveway requires a 4x4 but is not a problem. We hope to return someday.

Cloud Forest Stay
The sunsets from the swinging bench was unforgettable. We were given a tour of the sustainability center and farm that was excellent. We learned so much. The staff and owners were very friendly, fun, knowledgeable and helpful. Wish we could have enjoyed a stay here for a longer amount of time. We also went to the farmers market in Guacimal and the food and people were wonderful! We had a memorable and excellent experience.

Charming home- very steep
Veronica was lovely but in addition to the steep roadway (for which you need a 4x4) the walk into the house is also quite steep. We also had difficulty with a ferocious dog that chased my husband. We stay3d only one of the three nights paid.

A truly tranquil and beautiful spot
A peaceful cabin perched on the edge of mountain, with views stretching out to the Gulf of Nicoya and beyond. As soon as you step into this place, you're transported, your cares left far behind. We loved this little spot for its simplicity, its location and views, and especially for the hospitality offered by Veronica, our host. She helped us organize our stay in Monteverde so that we were able to do everything we had hoped to do in three short days. Definitely stop by the Sustainability Demonstration Center in Guacimal on your way up the road to meet Veronica and learn about the good works of the organization.

Charming rustic cottage
We stayed two nights at this charming little cottage near Monteverde. Access to the park and town was via hwy 606 - a gravel road that's got its share of potholes and is in generally rough condition. A 4x4 is absolutely essential to get down and back up the very steep and rocky driveway to the cottage. The owner (Veronica) was very helpful and attentive to our needs. There's an arrangement with a neighbour for meals should you be interested - and you should be as the meals we had we're excellent and very reasonably priced. Our only concern (other than the poor road conditions) was the limited seating options in the cottage. There's a set of wrought iron kitchen chairs that were fine for meal times but definately not comfortable for longer term sitting (reading, etc.). One rustic settie was also available with a futon style pillow, but we found if uncomfortable. We thought that as a base for exploring the local parks, ziplining, and so on, the cottage met our needs and was reasonably priced.
