Find hotels in Mittelzell from CA $72

The best area to stay in Mittelzell is the village centre, particularly around the harbour and the main street, Schifffahrtsgasse.

This area is the heart of Mittelzell, characterised by its traditional German architecture and direct access to Lake Constance. You'll find a good selection of guesthouses and hotels, many with lake views, as well as local restaurants and shops. The harbour is a focal point, with boats offering excursions around the lake, and the main street provides easy access to local amenities.

For couples looking for a relaxing getaway, staying near the harbour offers picturesque views and convenient access to lakeside strolls and boat trips. It's an ideal base to explore the island of Reichenau, known for its historic monastery and gardens.

Families will find the village centre practical due to its proximity to the lake and local eateries. There are often opportunities for cycling along the lake shore, and the calm waters are suitable for swimming during warmer months.

The best time to go to Mittelzell is generally from late spring to early autumn, specifically May through September, when the weather is most pleasant for outdoor activities and exploring the island.

May and June offer milder temperatures, fewer crowds than the peak summer months, and the island's flora is in full bloom, making it ideal for hiking and cycling. This period is particularly good for couples looking for a peaceful getaway with scenic walks and pleasant evenings. You can enjoy the botanical gardens and lakeside paths without the bustling crowds.

July and August are the warmest months, great for swimming in Lake Constance and enjoying water sports. This is also the peak season, so the island will be busy. Families often find these months ideal due to the warm weather suitable for lake activities and the longer daylight hours. There are plenty of ice cream parlours and family-friendly eateries around the harbour.

September brings slightly cooler temperatures, but the weather remains lovely for exploring, and the autumn colours begin to emerge. The crowds thin out after the school holidays, making it a good time for those who prefer a more relaxed pace.
