![My friends and I ran across this landmark this past summer on a trip to travel the entire parkway. It was located in Roanoke, VA. One thing that the Appalachian culture takes pride in is their religion. I am not for sure why this star was built but I figure that the star's purpose was to shine down on the city of Roanoke and serve as a reminder when they look and see it that they have so much to be thankful for and to not take it for granted which the Appalachian community takes seriously is not being ungrateful.
