Firstly, the staff were very friendly and nice to meet. The hotel is quite basic which is fine but my only irritation is how badly the floors creak. I was woken up by the creaking floors from next door from 7am. I understand this can sound fussy but it really is an issue, I wore ear plugs but I could still hear the sound of the floors creaking. Hotel was nice and clean and the staff were very attentive. The only issue we had was no hot water in bath or basin but shower was lovely and hot. The issue was dealt with very efficiently by staff as soon as we told them. Then came back the second night and key would not work so again had to return to reception to get it sorted. The condition of the room was not great, as we soon discovered the lightning did not work properly and the kettle in the room was dysfunctional (reported) The bathroom was clearly in need of renovation as the flooring which was used to cover the sides of the bathtub was peeling away. The window blinds had portions missing and the curtains were hanging off. We also noted a strong draught from the window but could not see where it was coming from as it was a double glazed unit. The breakfast was basic, it was all self service and they had run out of certain basic items such as coffee and I had to report the bread they were serving was actually mouldy. The staff were polite but overworked, as the young man on reception on the following morning was also the cook for breakfast! On the evening of arrival I had to report the key card was not working and had to wait for almost 10 minutes for staff to appear back at reception and witnessed a man shouting at someone from an office area in the back of the reception.
