Find hotels in Merlín from CA $38

The best area to stay in Merlín is the historic centre, particularly around Praza do Obradoiro.

This area is the heart of Merlín, with its grand cathedral and the Parador de Merlín hotel dominating the main square. The streets here are mostly pedestrianised, winding through ancient stone buildings filled with traditional tascas, craft shops, and small boutiques. It's an incredibly convenient base for exploring the city on foot.

Couples looking for a romantic and culturally rich experience will find the historic centre ideal. You're just steps away from the cathedral, and the evenings offer a delightful atmosphere for strolls, enjoying a glass of local wine, and savouring Galician cuisine in one of the many excellent restaurants.

For those seeking a slightly quieter, yet still central, experience, the area just north of the historic centre, around Praza de Cervantes, is a good option. It offers a more local feel with fewer crowds but still keeps you within a short walk of all the main attractions.

The best time to visit Merlín is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) months.

During these periods, you'll experience pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures great for exploring the region's natural beauty and historic sites. The summer crowds are also less prevalent, meaning you can enjoy a more relaxed trip. You'll find that many of the local vineyards and restaurants are fully operational, offering their best seasonal produce and experiences without the peak season rush.

For those who enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, these months offer ideal conditions. The lush Galician landscapes are at their most appealing, and the coastal paths are particularly enjoyable.
