Very helpful and friendly staff. A very good location for exploring the city. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Fresh air from our balcony facing adjacent building and sadly the noise from the four outside air conditioning units, two either side of our balcony, was a disturbance to our sleeping.

The reason we chose to stay at Carlton Lygon Lodge was because of its location. It was within walking distance to two events we had on in the area. Being on Lygon street, I could not fault the location and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was, given being situated on a busy street. If it weren't for the location, I would be hesitant to return or recommend. Although the room was adequate and relatively clean, the amenities were in poor condition/damaged. Coffee and tea were provided, but no milk. The hallway floors were not swept or mopped and the reception desk/foyer was untidy. I must add however, the staff were helpful and the free parking (limited) was a great benefit.

Decent Room and location
Booked two queen beds but the room was one queen one single and a fold out sofa. It was fine for what we paid, it was the cheapest room and did the job, all the necessities. Its a bit loud in the hall way though doesnt block out sound. Good location for us. Theres a parking right next door but its not the hotel parking, we mistakenly parked there and got slugged with a call out fee cause the parking closes 2am sunday. Just make sure you follow the instructions to park at the hotels parking.

This hotel is conveniently located for shopping, transport, the City, and the University. The room is large and has a kitchenette. These qualities however, are marred by the following flaws: - The room had endless problems, including no coat hangars, missing kitchen items, faulty toilet seat and flushing, lack of a suitable table to eat meals on, often poor room service, and some reception staff rather 'brusque' and dour when checking in. The place really needs a good makeover, renovation and clean, and there needs to be significant improvement in room service (sometimes they 'forgot'; often poor and incomplete room service, slapdash). I would think carefully before booking this one again

Exceptionally good value
In a city where over-priced accommodation is the norm, the Carlton Lygon Lodge represents excellent value for money. From my check-in until departure the staff were incredibly helpful. The room was a generous size and impeccably clean. And the bed was incredibly comfortable! I will be back.

Generally it’s a good location but on this stay, there was a lot of noise in and adjacent to the hotel, and many familiar eating places now only keep limited hours. Room service was inconsistent.

The hotel room was comfortable it the Receptionist was very unhelpful. Asked about on site parking and third their parking was full. When walked through there was at least 5 empty car spaces. Had to park on the street.

I liked their low consumption - linen laundry only on request, good shower pressure with low volume. I liked the private balcony to test the weather and have a cuppa in real air. I liked the friendly unintrusive staff presence. I liked the well equipped self catering cupboard - even a decent fruit-vegetable knife as I am unable to carry a knife in cabin baggage for light travel.

I stayed for one night, I got there early I advised that I thought it would take longer, I asked if I could park my car and come back later. The lady at reception advised that my room was ready and I could check in then if I wanted. This was nice service, the rooms were clean and comfortable. I slept well even though it was on Lygon street I expected to be kept awake by the noise, I didn't even hear any street noise. I would recommend. Friendly staff, clean rooms and lots of things to do in Lygon street.

Walking towards the property is a little daunting. The exterior, like much of Lygon Street, is showing its age, but the huge smile from the check-in clerk lit up the space and we were quickly and efficiently processed and in our surprisingly spacious room. The room was clean and tidy with a recently renovated bathroom. Despite the hotel's location in the heart of a vibrant entertainment precinct, our room provided an undisturbed night's sleep and the bathroom delivered a powerful shower with unlimited hot water to wash away the residue of a terrific night of eating and drinking at one of the area's famous restaurants. The Lodge is a friendly, well-worn member of an iconic Melbourne community of mostly Mediterranean heritage. Great value for money, great location, safe, clean and comfortable.

Nice surprise. Kind staff.Good price & room facs.
Highly recommended for location, room inclusions, friendliness & cleanliness. Doesnt claim to be 5 star & so price is reasonable. Before i had flown out from NT the Carlton Lygon Lodge (CLL) informed me that they were not able to fill my special but late request.With the support of Hotels.com & with LCC learning of my whole situation, management of LCC then organised an excellent alternative at no extra cost to me...which more than met my needs. This resulted in my having a very comfortable and welcome stay. Carlton Lygon Lodge is not 5 star, but it doesnt claim to be. It charges a very reasonable price considering their location, having a 1pm check in & a 10.30 checkout with some flexibility. The front reception is small but close to an accessible lift and stairs. My room was clean and included extras such as a small table, sofa, kitchenette with microwave, toaster, table and desk, etc. Lights were many, so the room could be lit according to guests needs. (Unlike some other places I have stayed in with just 1 room light & a small bedside lamp.) Thank you Carlton Lygon Lodge for your kindness and understanding.
