When many think about Manila, the phrase "Pearl of the Orient" isn't what comes to mind. But before WW2 it was just that.

And this being my 10th year living here between a span of 1996 - 2015, I am convinced more than ever, that truly she is that.

Sometimes beauty is right there in front of you. And sometimes beauty is something that must be searched out.

As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And I love Manila...all her good, bad and ugly. :)

"The staff were superb. Especially Dexter the supervisor at the front desk. He was very kind accommodating very professional. The front desk clerk were also very friendly and helpful. I don’t get her name but the supervisor at that time was very helpful when I ask for a favor. I was really concern about is the hallway the floor were crack, I was on the 6th floor and when I accidentally step on iit makes noise. Lastly the breakfast menu is not that great. On the good side Hotel 101 location is excellent. The downside the towels are very old, I had a towel that was rip on the edges. "

"This hotel property is located fairly close to the airport. The lobby area was relatively new but I noticed that there was no air conditioning in the seating area, which made the lobby stuffy and warm. The designated guest area had a odour to it that was difficult to explain ( slight sewage smell ). But the staff at check in were extremely warm and helpful. We also availed ourselves with the free airport shuttle but I would highly recommend arranging for pick up before arrival in order to make the pick up smooth. The suite/ room was clean and comfortable, and came with some toiletries and a toothbrush which made our brief overnight stay easy. We did not eat at the in-house restaurant but took advantage of the complimentary breakfast which was delivered to our room. Delicious meal of chicken tapa & pork tocino. Shower was hot although the water pressure was weak. The room a/c worked well and I found the bed mattress firm but comfy. We also arranged for a late check out which is an additional fee but was greatly appreciated. The lobby cafe serves up some delicious hot and cold coffee beverages for a fee. Staff were always pleasant and willing to be helpful."
