The hotel is old of course, so some things are dated and worn. But it is clean, cheap, friendly staff, your deposit gets returned, for the money you cannot go wrong staying here. Decent mattresses, towels, clean sheets, so over look a missing toilet seat, you are saving money! Not going to get first class accommodations for the $30.00 a night for three guests! This hotel is located in the Chinatown neighborhood of Manilla and is an area with some folks who are struggling financially. So if you stay here you will be contributing to a neighborhood that needs the support of good people. It is not dangerous at all. I actually want to see this side of a city and see what folks are really dealing with. I saw aspects of Manila here that I would not have seen had I stayed elsewhere. From this hotel you can walk to the fine museums Manila has - the art museum is really spectacular. You can also walk to the huge park and see the old Spanish fortifications. The room I had was large, and it had a nice bed and air conditioning. I actually caught a little cold or something and spent a couple days in bed and I enjoyed it - lying in the dark, recouperating with the AC on etc. :P If you are on a budget, this room will be fine for you.
