Located in the downtown historic district, the townhouse was built in 1860 by one of the co-founders of Jefferson, Daniel Alley. The windows and front doors of the home are original and were imported from France during the New Orleans trade era; the home also features original cypress floors and 14 foot ceilings. The Townhouse is a Texas Historical Marker and in the National Registry of Historic Places. The bright and airy home has an updated open living room and kitchen with modern updated bathrooms. There are two large bedrooms with king beds, and one with a large en suite master bath providing enough privacy for multiple families to stay in the home. The sitting room has a queen pull out sofa bed as well. All rentable space of the home is on the GROUND FLOOR. There is an upstairs to the home but it is closed off to guests and used for storage only. I loved that this is a historic house, yet it felt modern (not creepy). Pics and descriptions were accurate and the location was so convenient for our travels betweeen Linden and Marshall. Our daughter was married at the beautiful white chapel on the campus at ETBU in Marshall and then a reception at the Fire & Knives Tavern in Linden. Most of my family (and now my daughter) live in Linden so I will definitely be booking a stay (or more) at this house in the future. Upon arrival one unit was dripping in the living area, the floor was partially flooded. We took the area rug and chair outdoors to dry, mopped and put pans under the drip. The repair was made the next day. Prior to leaving on the 3rd day we replaced the items and cleaned up the area.
