The hotel was in a convenient location for me to walk to all of the Christmas markets, which was the reason for my trip. The staff was very nice and the single room was comfy. I even had my own balcony! Would definitley recommend

Hotel Schwarzer Bär was a good hotel.
Hotel was very good. Location in the city was convenient and staff recommended restaurants that we tried and they were good. Transport on tram was just around the corner. Breakfast was nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

All good at this place. Welcoming check-in. Unexpected free welcome drink too. Room modern, spacious enough and well equipped with A/C. Very comfy beds. Bar is nice and the place is right in the middle of town. Couldn't find the hotel carpark and the front of tyhe hotel is in a pedestrian zone. I parked ina public underground car park near by which was a few euros more but hey, ho. Didn't eat there. Has a rooftop bar and restaurant but, as it is under glass and its a heatwave at present, did not go there. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Nothing not too like and good value.

Facility does not honor Hotels booking completely.
Did not get large room with sofa bed as ordered. Next day was able to move to large room with sofa bed for 40€ per day extra.Staff was helpful, but did not get what was booked on Hotels.com.

It was close to the sites we wanted to see, the parking was onsite, and the staff was very helpful. They answered my emails promptly about the parking and access through the pedestrian area.

Our room was so small that the only place to put our (medium size) suitcases without tripping over them was in an upright position in one corner. The closet/wardrobe was divided in two 14 inch vertical spaces making it impossible for suitcase placement. However, we did appreciate the on site parking.

They charged me twice.
They charged me twice. It could be a Hotels.com's fault. I chose "Pay at the hotel" option. And my money got deducted by the hotel very soon. When I checked out the hotel, the girl charged me again. She said something about "holding the money", but it IS deducted. She could check the transaction with my card from their data. Definitely, she didn't care what's happening in my reservation. The hotel itself is awesome. Very clean. Nice location. But how can I like such hotel and service.

Hotel is located just off the main street right in the centre of town. It is an easy 15 minute walk from the main train station. Our room was adequate with seperate bathroom and toilet for one night stay. Unfortunately we received quite cold treatment from the staff member upon check in and then again check out

Short stay for Business trip.
Really good location and has a good rooftop restaurant with super steaks. Breakfast was excellent and I really enjoyed my short stay for a business trip.

Great location and good rooms in Linz
The hotel has an excellent location in the centre of Linz’s old town. Service is pleasant and efficient. We chose not to have breakfast in the hotel as there are many good options nearby in cafés and bakeries. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed. Recommended.

In pleasant street close to centre of old town.
Lively foyer cafe and breakfast area, beyond which is Reception. Spacious well decorated rooms. Would be nice and warm in winter. My luggage missed my flight and was delivered later, which the hotel delivered helpfully to my room whilst I was out. Efficient and friendly staff.

Nice,clean, very comfortable bed and very close to old town.Breakfast was excellent but expensive ($15.00 Euros) Stephan is very helpful and courteous. I highly recommended this hotel!!

Rooms are not as described, had the Business room, - no airconditioning - rooms are smaller than published - breakfast facility is really bad quality - parking conditions are not profesional. will for sure not go to the hotel again, price are way overreted.

Beware of the fake double beds. Two twin beds with separate sheets do not equal a King size American bed. Ours split apart in the first five minutes.

Good central hotel
Hotel was perfectly located, staff excellent, value as well. Beds were two single beds with single quilts pushed together, as in much of Europe. I personally hate that configuration and as a result sleep was not great. But hotel was excellent nonetheless.

Very nice hotel in Linz
We stayed in this hotel for only 2 nights, and we would like to have stayed longer. It is an attractive hotel with courteous and mostly helpful staff. The room was spacious and well-appointed with a comfortable bed and great shower. The hotel is located near the main shopping street on which the trams run, so it is convenient to get around town. The hotel itself is on a pedestrian street, so there is no traffic noise. The area is pleasant with shops and small cafes. We had some difficulty finding a restaurant on a Saturday evening. The hotel has a restaurant but it is closed on Saturday and Sunday - very strange. Our only complaint about the hotel is that the breakfast is not included - it is an extra charge of 13 euros per person. The breakfast is a nice buffet, similar to that in many Austrian hotels. This hotel is definitely a good choice for Linz.

A bit noisy
Our room had this funky bathtub framed in brick right in the room, not a separate bathroom. The toilet has a separate room. I'm not sure how we ended up with that, or if all the rooms are the same. My wife kicked me out so she could take a shower in privacy. The night we were there, there was a serious party going on in the street, from midnight until 4am. Windows didn't offer much sound insulation. Then the street sweepers came out and took away that last bit of quiet before we had to get up. Not blaming the hotel, it is what it is, just be aware.

Awesome price for all that it has to offer
They went out of their way above and beyond for my 83 years old parent and me. The parking is awesome. They have a secure underground garage. The area is very safe and awesome location. Will come back again most definitely.

Good city centre hotel
A thoroughly enjoyable stay with good friendly welcoming service. The Breakfast charge of EUR 13 was OK but for thriftier souls there are plenty of good bakeries and cafes nearby for breakfast fodder. The tOurism office and good public transport were all nearby

Nous sommes partis le matin. Je me suis aperçue que j'avais un vêtement de marque (robe en soie) dans l'armoire de l'hôtel , j'ai téléphoné en fin d'après midi pour que l'on me renvoie le vêtement ou bien trouver une solution pour récupérer la robe, on ne m'a jamais rappelé malgré qu'ils m'avaient dit qu'ils le feraient. J'ai pourtant rappelé deux autre fois.

Sehr gute Lage in der Stadt und schöne Rooftopbar. Unser Zimmer nach vorne zur Gasse hin war Nachts etwas laut. Insgesamt haben wir unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen und würden das Hotel wieder wählen.

Letzter Besuch meinerseits in diesem Hotel
Nur 1 Flasche Mineralwasser für 2 Personen ist gerade im Sommer nicht gerade Kundenfreundlich und als ich diesen Umstand beim Rezeptionisten bekritelte war dieser nicht an meinen Feedback interessiert! Feedback ist das Geschenk des Gastes! Ich rechne es aber seiner Unerfahrenheit und Jugend zu. Trinkgeld war von meiner Seite aus nicht gerecht. Zweiter Kritikpunkt war das Frühstück, ich war vor Jahren schon mal Gast und da gab es zb.mehr Auswahl beim Gebäck.

Surpris car entre la présentation et la réalité c'est 2 mondes. Petite chambre, avec petite salle de bain, dangereuse avec sa petite marche. Nous avons tout les deux faillit nous blesser car très peux de place. Rideaux occultants annoncés, réalité papier a cigarettes, donc reveillé très tôt. Pas de climatisation. Heureusement Linz est une très belle ville, mais éviter cet hôtel.
