We rented a room for 3 persons with two beds. One of the mattress was so dirty and stank so much we asked the hotel to remove it from the room. They couldn't replace it. The 3 of us had to sleep in a 2 person bed ! They refused any refund or compensation! A few more problems: shower wasn't working properly (either cold or burning hot water), bathroom was dirty. And if that's not enough for you to choose another place : front street is noisy and smelly from the intense traffic all day and night. Do not open the window or you won't sleep from noise or suffocation. Problem is...if you close the window the room is damp and smells badly. Anyway you won't sleep! Avoid this old run down hotel. It has no charm at all: it is just dirty, smelly and noisy. But we had more problems: The second day they asked us if the 3 of us wanted to sleep the remaining nights in the same 2 persons bed !!! I couldn't believe my ears ! We refused of course and run away from this hotel. It is listed as a four star hotel on Google for some reason but it’s not at all. The entire building smells strongly of mildew and there was visible mold on the bathroom walls. The front gate is locked with a bike lock overnight and you will need to call for someone to let you in or out of the building. There are much much nicer places in the area for cheaper prices. You could hear every single word from the room next door. It’s in a great location, and the building has a long history with many antique collections. But this is not a hotel—if you know what I mean. The building is over a hundred years old and therefore not perfect but the elegance and charm of a bygone era have been authentically preserved. I'm a big fan of high ceilings and these ones are an amazing four meters in height. The bathroom was tasteful and modern. The common areas have an eclectic mix of antiques interspersed throughout the property. Last but certainly not least the owner and staff were full of advice on places to eat and things to do. This is not a hotel. This is a hunted house attraction! We booked 1 night here because we wanted to see the Barranco area. The hotel is an old house that has not been renovated at all. It is very scary! After checking in, we decided not to spend the night here. We grabbed our bags and left because we were not comfortable spending the night here. When we were about to leave, we realized there was a bicycle lock around the gate! You can’t leave or enter the property without someone unlocking the door for you. I am not sure what they do in case of an emergency or fire. I have to admit the front desk staff was very nice and friendly during the check in process. This place is not clean, it is not comfortable and it shouldn’t be considered a hotel. We were not looking for a cheap option when we booked this so I was very surprised when we arrived and saw the state of the property. In the bathroom they have old almost empty bottles of shampoo and soap for the guests. There were broken windows around the house. The place is old and run down all over! The Continental breakfast was perfect, simple and effective fresh pineapple banana juice, coffee, eggs, bread... What else is there?
