The rooms smelled like mold with piles of dust hanging from the ceilings. The walk to the ocean was absolutely stunning! Thomas was the only staff member that was friendly and seemed to be happy to come to work.

After reading the other reviews here, getting the price we got for the property, I was extremely pleasantly surprised. My room had a view of the ocean, and was steps away from the pool and the very prompt restaurant and bar. The staff was friendly and available 24 hours a day. The room was overall reasonably updated, and cleaned and supplied daily with coffee. In general if you haven't been to Kauai before, fyi, it is what I think the most beautiful of the islands, but also the most rustic. If you are expecting a Ritz Carlton vibe, stay at the Hyatt, or, just head to Waikoloa on the Big Island. However, if you are looking for some of the most stunning views on the planet, just deal with a little humidity, and spend as much time on Kauai as you can.

What will be most striking is the grounds. They have a stream running through the lobby and out towards the pool. They planted tropical trees around the stream and there are water lilies in the stream. Wow! The rooms are fully modern with lots of electrical outlets to recharge your devices!

The location and surroundings are excellent. However, we had a disappointing experience at this Hilton hotel. The shower temperature was at best warm (not hot). After first night's unpleasant shower, we told the front desk staff in the early morning when we left and was promised that they will check and fix the issue. When we came back at night, nothing was done. We talked to the front desk again to complain. Without hearing any apologies, she immediately transferred me to another line. I talked to another front desk person who was not polite at all and told me he was helping customers so he didn’t have time now and he will call me back after he talked to the chief engender. Not surprised, he never called back. And this problem was never address through our 4 night staying. We feel the way of dealing with customers' request and complaints at this Hilton Facility was very disappointing especially it happens in the beginning of vacation.

Property was not as described in Expedia. Some services advertised were not available. The breakfast restaurant was ok, food was good but service is lacking at best. Asking for a refill of coffee requires an act of Congress, and similar to Congress they can’t get anything done either. The other restaurant, Mamahune’s is a Tiki bar but the food is lacking and over our stay they continually out of items. The only thing that I would rate as positive at this hotel is the concierge, Curt. His friendly, courteous, engaged personality and activity suggestions saved this trip.

The property itself is beautiful. Lobby, grounds are lovely. Staff is friendly. Major downfall is the AC system. It is so loud, you can't hear the ocean. sleeping through the noise is challenging. The fans run 24/7, so any hope of quiet is not existent. Our room had an ant issue that needed to be resolved.
