Morrison Cabin Offers The Finest Interiors, Unique History & Very Best Location

Historic Morrison Cabin is the oldest home in Lexington on its original foundation. It was built by John Morrison in 1787 when Kentucky was still a part of Virginia. John Morrison was one of Lexington's founders. He built the home for his wife, the first woman to live in Lexington. It is ideally located in historic Gratz Park, across the street from Transylvania University.
Morrison Cabin has been meticulously restored, offering all modern amenities while maintaining its historical elegance and integrity. Guests will be just a few short blocks and within easy walking distance to the Lexington Convention Center, Opera House, Rupp Arena, and the best dining and nightlife Lexington has to offer. Free off street parking is available directly behind the cabin. The location offers convenient and easy access to Keeneland, the Kentucky Horse Park, The University of Kentucky, Commonwealth Stadium, Kentucky's famous horse farms and distilleries. Lexington is a hub with proximity to Cincinnati and Louisville and all things Derby.
Upon request (and availability) our house chef can cater breakfast, dinner, or special events.

Bball weekend
We came to town to visit our son and attend a baseball game. We had a group of 9. There was ample free parking. It was a very easy walk to downtown and Rupp. We had the “house chef” cater a brunch for us and that was amazing!!! The kitchen is very small so would advise against trying to cook for a large group. Overall a fantastic experience! And a big win for the cats too!

Perfect visit!
We stayed at Morrison Cabin for a family wedding. It was an absolutely perfect place for a gathering. Sparkling clean and comfy. The antiques are just gorgeous. This was our first time in Lexington, and Morrison Cabin was a perfect home base. We didn't need to rent a car. Easily walkable to wonderful restaurants and coffee shops.Instantly responsive host. Highly recommend!

Comfortable cabin in convenient location
Comfortable cabin in convenient location. Clean, well appointed, and walkable to Rupp and several restaurants. Only complaint was the street noise due to proximity to a fairly busy intersection. Stayed over a holiday weekend and heard several emergency vehicles throughout the night.

Loved the history and charming personality of the cabin! Our group of seven wanted a unique place to stay and the Morrison Cabin was ideal. In addition to all the modern amenities, the beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water and easy access to local restaurants and attractions.
