We were helping our daughter and SIL move into their new home. I feel our stay was very comfortable and clean. The place was quiet and Billie was very pleasant and accommodating.

Love the Staff and the Hotel
I could not believe "Inn at the Agora" was an option when I was looking for a hotel to stay at in Lewiston. I booked it right away. After driving over 2000 miles to get to Lewiston, ME I was greeted by the owner - by name - and was treated like royalty. I have been staying here for more than a week and the services of the staff and owner are 5+ stars. The hotel has a small kitchen area where guests can get a complimentary snack or a hot drink. There is a small fridge where I can put my leftover take-out meal, to heat up for later. The staff and owner have treated me with kindness and have been a source of local information for me while I get to know the area I am moving to. I love the small signs the owner sets out to assist me with using the coffee maker or contacting them if I do not see them at the front desk. Extra covers or pillows are not a problem for the staff when I request them. I have a pet with me and there is a place for him to walk and potty. I love the gathering/dinning area. I have enjoyed the atmosphere and sounds of the other guests going about their business in the hotel/mansion. It feels real warm and relaxing. I have never felt like a corporate employee was watching my every move. I feel like I have lived here for longer than I have been. The historical aspect of this hotel makes it so cool to stay here. There is historical literature about the hotel, and of course the owner has additional information if you are interested. Make this your choice

The most unique place I have stayed in months!
Absolutely charming mansion-turned-Inn. Splendid hospitality. Interesting and cordial innkeepers. Friendly dog. Do spend some in the parlor for a game of chess and complementary wine. The owners also have a splendid social venue in the massive church complex they also purchased next door. I had a fascinating guided tour.

We had to leave. The property was in a dangerous neighborhood, a slum near crack houses, gangs hanging around near the hotel.

I am not even sure HOW or WHY Expedia allowed you to leave any sort of review for a reservation that was canceled. You obviously can't speak to anything of what a stay here is like since you never stayed. While I will say that we are located on the edge of a neighborhood in transition, to describe our inn as a slum - especially when you canceled your reservation and never checked in is truly incredible. We have loads of reviews from guests that mention the neighborhood, but love staying with us. I would say that I am sorry you didn't get to experience that, but I am also glad with your attitude, that you didn't stay with us.

I will report my response from your review on August 18th for the same exact stay of just you and your dog. You were a horrible guest. So I am happy to reply to your negative review with zero feedback associated with it. You showed up here with your dog that you didn't have registered, reserved in one of our two non-pet friendly rooms. We placed you in another room and did not even charge you for your dog. On the way to your room, you tripped and spilled dog food on the floor. I cleaned the dog food up as soon as I got you to your room. Within 10 minutes of checking in, you had managed to tear the hot water pipe out of the floor, causing us to shut the water off to the inn and get an emergency plumber in. I moved you to yet another room. As I was cleaning up the bathroom, and others were cleaning up our private quarters that were flooded, I found the non-slip bath mat we provided wedged under the bathroom door. It took effort on your part to actually do any of this. The next day, you decided to leave a day early, but you couldn't call us to let us know (because supposedly you don't have a cell phone even though you were on a cell phone as you sat in our parking lot after you showed up hours early for check-in) or ring the doorbell that all guests are shown during check-in to reach us. You could, however, rifle through my office to scribble a note that you had an emergency and I should refund you the second night. I found that note much later in the day when it was way past the time that we could have re-rented that room for the night . You then called me the next day to whine that I didn't refund the second night even though you didn't stay. I informed you that you had a non refundable rate through your online travel agent (which did not even cover the money I paid for the emergency plumber and the nightmare you caused). I informed you that you could take it up with the online travel agent. I am guessing that failed as you then filed a dispute with your credit card company. You were even so kind as to leave a bucket of chicken bones in the dresser. And I have on video (the video that is on the doorbell you never rang to say you were checking out, but obviously aware of) as you scrawled your note... you going through my office, being extremely rude to another guest, and even giving the camera the finger after you scared the other guest. I am happy that you didn't enjoy your stay here, because we didn't enjoy having you and are thrilled that you will never return.

The specious room was very nice. The coffee was excellent and the tour of the church was most informative. Overall, I would suggest the Inn at the Agora as a stop whenever a visit to Lewiston is on the agenda.

It was a lovely old mansion next to a lovely old church. And there was a courtyard to enjoy between them. I just wish the weather had been better while we were there so we could have used it.

Agora thought of every little detail (bathroom book, makeup Removal, snacks, etc) for a relaxing stay. The owner also has a delightful sense of humor: a little rubber duck in the tub.

Cozy Inn, Welcoming Innkeeper
The innkeeper was extremely friendly and the inn was homey and comfortable. Our room, the Kelsey Suite was beautifully decorated down to the utmost detail. The bed was so comfy with wonderful sheets and even the towels were much softer and fluffier than most places I’ve stayed. The building was quite secure and overlooked historical Kennedy Park. I wouldn’t hesitate to return!

Off the Beaten Path.
I loved my time so much at the Inn that I extended my stay. The proprietors thought of everything that one might need, especially for snacking in the middle of the night! My pup loved the welcome basket, which I thought was incredibly thoughtful. Thanks guys!

Wonderful old place. Very well set up and very clean. Only problem is activity on park bench across the street. Lots of loud talk. Occasionally foul-mouthed.

Thank you for the nice review of the Inn itself. The park is a work in progress, and the city is actively working to improve the environment of the entire neighborhood. It is such a beautiful green space with lots of family activity during the day and more and more community events that are helping to change the dynamic.

Cozy charming Inn
We had a very nice stay at the Inn at the Agora. New owner, Bille-Jayne greeted us and explained all the accommodations at the former church rectory turned inn. Very nice cozy and clean private room with private bath. We enjoyed port and sherry served in the parlor in the evening and conversation by the fire pit. No breakfast but the inn offers vouchers at local restaurants. Great organic bagels and breakfast sandwiches at Forage Market, within walking distance. Not the best neighborhood, but we had no issues. I would recommend the Inn at the Agora.

Great attention to detail
We were met by the innkeeper who greeted us by name, and showed us to our room. The inn is a beautiful old Victorian house, and much of the original woodwork and architectural details are evident. There’s a beautiful sitting room/parlor on the first floor, and they have complimentary sherry and port for a nightcap. Our room was spacious with high ceilings and plenty of natural light. The attached bathroom was nice as well - and very clean. Comfortable bed, good WiFi connection, and so quiet. We were able to walk to dinner, and would have loved to sit on the wide porch afterwards, but we were too tired! The inn offers coffee and tea in the morning, but not breakfast. However, they do provide a $5 per guest coupon to a local spot (Forage) where we found plenty of tasty options. One nice feature that we will likely take advantage of if we return to the area is that our room, and I think another on the second floor, has a connecting room available for use as a family suite - a great choice for travel with kids.

Our Kelsey suite on the first floor offers a large annex that could actually hold a family of 5 with our roll away bed. On the second floor is the McDonough suite and a small annex. This would comfortably fit a family of 3. We are looking to expand our breakfast offering very soon (within the next two weeks) to include a "grab and go" option of prepackaged food for those that aren't able to utilize the coupons as another alternative choice.

Beautiful property; well maintained and very clean; typical of older buildings - tall ceilings, nice architecture; if you like the consistency of a chain hotel, you may not like this
