A bit of a rocky start (that we put down to being very early in the season) was put firmly behind us. We discussed our concerns with the staff and they did everything posssible to make the rest of our stay excellent. Well done guys and Thank you
Everything about this hotel is FANTASTIC. The staff is the friendliest, customer service is amazing and the hotel is absolutely gorgeous plus the rooms are really spacious. Honestly if it wasn’t because we were skiing I don’t think we would’ve left our room. It was late in the season and the hotel was still staffed. Definitely worth the price, amazing all over.
Superb location and ski in/ski out as described. Reception were great, super helpful. The bar is a great place to sit and watch the world go by, but just keep in mind it’s 10 euros for a beer or 9 euros for a coffee… VT is expensive so guess it’s to be expected. Hotel is a little tired in places, lifts are a bit scruffy, scratch marks etc. overall though a great place. Speakers in rooms are superb, coupled with amazing soundproofing! The steps/ice to get onto the slope are lethal - be nice for the money that the hotel fitted proper steps to get you out and in safely. Also the ice outside the hotel on a night - no effort to clear it away at all and was lethal - again frustrating from what is meant to be a high class place. Breakfast was ok, nothing outstanding, service was pretty poor, asking three times on a morning for a white coffee and having to again remind to then get a black coffee. Overall for me a 8/10
We stayed at Le Fitz Roy last year and enjoyed our stay so much we decided to stay again for this year's Val Thorens ski trip. This hotel is in the perfect ski-in-ski-out location at the bottom of the plain sud piste and also in the middle of town - ideal for bars, restaurants and shopping.
On arrival we were allocated an upgraded room - which was very welcome and appreciated. Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains, a large bathroom with bath (but no shower) was well presented and very clean.
During our stay there were a few negatives that would likely encourage us to stay elsewhere next year. The first seems a little strange for a hotel of this standard. The included breakfast, whilst very good, now charges an additional fee if you wish to have fried/poached/freshly boiled eggs or an omelette. This wasn't the case last year. Besides a lack of eggs it's sometimes difficult to get coffee - the attentiveness of the staff can be a little hit or miss. A self service machine might help.
The second negative is that the pool in the spa is so much colder than it was last year that it wasn't at all enjoyable. On our previous trip we would spend an hour or so at the end of the day in the spa - this trip we avoided it and soaked in our bathroom instead. We mentioned the pool was cold to the spa assistant who told us to inform reception... that didn't really feel like our job.
Worst service ever! We didn’t get one of our Ski pass until 3 pm the last day even do I called the reception 20 times, totally unbelievable!! And on top of that we had to pay for it. I lived in the family suite and the room was ok but I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The rooms were beyond small. I had interconnecting rooms - one day, I left my internal bathroom door open but left through he other room. On my return, I could not then enter through my front door because it jammed on the bathroom door. Everything was very tight with hardly any storage! Food was very limited, boring, extremely over priced and took ages to be served. Had to return three chickens due to rawness after waiting over an hour for them and was still charged! You can ski out of the property but not back in without a very steep and long walk! Would not return.
