A little history of this remarkable cottage!
A lovingly renovated 1910 cottage with all the modern necessities and amenities but keeping with her historical charm.
This cottage stands above the site of the original Buffalo Bill Cody family home, now marked only by a sign showing where it once stood. In 1933, the house was relocated by train to Cody Wyoming, as a tourist attraction. I can imagine young Buffalo Bill Cody playing on this very property before his family moved to Kansas at the age of around 7. The cottage is the last remaining building of the three that once stood on this parcel of land. The original outhouse still stands at the back of the property. Two other small brick homes were torn down years ago, but scattered throughout the landscape, you may notice old bricks and remnants of foundations still visible.
The Views! Enjoy river vistas from every window there’s not a single window without a river view from the house. Start your day with sunrises viewing the great Mississippi River, or wind down in the evening on the sunporch, decks, or enjoy the firepit garden, watching the sun set in all its glory.
This is not your typical vacation rental. I’ve spent years traveling across the country, handpicking antiques, décor, and furniture to match the whimsical charm of this home. I have owned the property for over a decade, and it’s a joy to share it with guests from around the world.

Really enjoyed our stay, and the best part...our dogs were able to join us too. Loved the fire pit and the view of the river. Host made our stay perfect! Thanks again!
Such a cool cottage! Interestingy architecture, lovely decor and neat outdoor spots to enjoy the beautiful views of the Old Man River.Clean and comfortable in all areas inside and out. Had a wonderful evening cozied up in front of the gas fireplace.
We stayed here for three weeks as a working vacation. The cottage is very comfortable and has a welcoming feel. Kathryn, the host was very responsive, friendly and helpful. We adored the property and plan to stay again.
This was the cutest, coziest cottage! It was perfect for the 4 of us. We used the grill and deck one night and the firepit another night. Very relaxing and convenient walking distance to all the cool places on Cody Road. We would definitely stay there again.
Beautiful location, impeccable interior design, three French doors overlooking the Mississippi from the living area. There're at least 5-6 different outdoor living stress, decks, wide porch, fire pit. Communication with host was great!
Absolutely loved the place. The pictures are spot on. It's super cozy and charming yet much bigger than you would think. All the rooms are decent sized and well decorated. Also, a great location only a short walk from all the restaurants and shopping. We will definitely add to our list of must go again.
My 19 year old daughter and I were coming to the area for a Blake Shelton concert and wanted to stay in LeClaire. The house was perfect, super relaxing and exactly what was needed. The area was great and locals extremely friendly. We quickly fell in love with LeClaire, can’t wait to come back & would love to again stay here. 10/10 recommend.
Absolutely loved this historic cottage. Oozing with charm! Kathryn has created such an inviting get-away. We were in town for a family Christmas and needed a few extra beds and a quiet space for a break from the exuberance of 10 grandkids. Perfect peacefulness to be found at this cottage. Just a heads-up to any wanting to stay here; there are several small steps throughout the cottage in addition to the spiral staircase, all very well marked and lit, but still a word of caution for some. We surely hope to be back, and the teenage granddaughters hope to join us next time!
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Everything was pretty much as shown in the photos online. The river views were great. There was a lot of train traffic along the river but it was really not an issue for us.
There were several nice decks and outdoor seating options, however, the decks and patio furniture had not been cleaned in quite awhile. We did enjoy sitting in the little screened porch on the second floor and that was very clean. Overall, a nice stay.
The cottage was the perfect place for me to get away from distractions and get some writing done! From the variety of outdoor seating to the cozy indoor space, it was a great setup. And the river view was so pretty! I even got to see a beautiful rainbow over the Mississippi after a storm.
The only improvement that could be made is the master bedroom bed. It was only a full size which was very tight for the night my husband was able to be there. Granted, we are used to a king, but a full was a whole lot smaller than we like. We would not have been able to do another night in that bed. By myself it was just fine.
All in all, it was a wonderful place to stay! I loved it!
Enjoyed the views from the deck areas. Didn't really use the kitchen much as we ate at local restaurants. The cottage was nice and would stay again in the future.
This was my second stay at the cottage and it was as charming as the first. Communication with the host is exceptional, check in/out is seamless, the community is very safe, and the beautiful views of the Mississippi don’t disappoint. This is a lovely way to enjoy the quaint community in LeClaire, IA !
