The air conditioning is on a timer, so in the middle of the night you end up overheating — especially if you like sleeping under blankets. "So the hostel is doing lots of renovations! So the property looks dirtier than the pictures show. There were no towels given but we brought our own. Staff were friendly but the language barrier was a problem. I think once they are done renovating and clean up the property will be beautiful!"

"I only stayed here for 12 hours as a stop point but I almost wish I stayed longer. Very clean, welcoming and comfortable place. Cute theme and good location. Beds are comfortable and allow good space. You get a free coffee or tea once you arrive which is nice. They looked like they had a lot of activities you could do. I would come back."

"Went to stay at Mad Monkey for 3 days in the shared dorm for the doublebed room for couples. It was some lovely people and very helpful staf. It has happy hour for 4 hours a day, you get a free drink when arriving and they have aircon in the rooms. The rooms are still warm but feel quite private. We enojyed the pool area, especially at night where you could look at the stars and swim around before going to bed. Bathrooms and showers are shared and looks nice. "I had high hopes for this place since the photos looked so nice. But soon became disappointed. I got a single room and the bed was truly awful. I felt I was sleeping on a box spring or something even worse. When I walked in there was hair all over the pillows and the towel they gave me was dirty and brown. "Pros: staff was very kind & helpful, location of the hotel was in close proximity to the morning & night market, and the room/hotel was clean. Cons: the drainage for both the shower and toilet were a problem during our 3 night stay. Although the water pressure was excellent, the hot water ran out one evening and were told that we’d have to wait about 30 mins as the hotel is fully booked and it’s a busy time for showers. I wouldn’t have minded that, but a heads up of busy shower hours would have been appreciated. Our toilet also clogged every day, even though we followed the rules about throwing toilet paper in the trash bin instead of the toilet. We worked around it by waiting to flush again, once the level subsided. Overall, I would recommend this hotel due to the location, cleanliness, and staff, but if you are particular about your showers as I am (water pressure & hot water), I would just be aware of the busy hours. The water pressure was great tho! "
