Disappointing
The house was dirty when we arrived and we spent a half a day cleaning. The toilet leaked, the hottub stopped being hot, the pool was dirty when we arrived, there was trash in the back yard. The house is poorly maintained and the furniture is super cheap. And the heated pool had a huge surprise extra fee to have it actually heated. A good experience is one you want to return to - I would never come back here.

Great location
The house is in a wonderful location with walking to beach and restaurants. It has a great pool and hot tub. The problem is that the house is run down. It’s for sale so probably they’re not willing to fix anything. There was an ant infestation that I reported. Couch in living room needs to be replaced and is unusable due to ants.

Great Location/Issues with the House
Number 1 the location is amazing and the best thing about the property. We had several issues during our week of vacation. We contacted through the VRBO message system the manager a month before travel with no response. I sent a second message a week later but still no response. I had to call to get answers to my questions. Several hours after check in we lost lights in 2 bedrooms and the bathroom. I called again (great way to spend your vacation) and was told it would be resolved. We showered and dressed in the dark bedrooms/bathroom in the morning and went about our day. When we returned at 4:00 nothing had been corrected. Again I call and there is no explanation of why nothing had been done. They send someone out to repair the lights and he states this was a problem last week too. He states he doesn't really know what the issue is but if I change the lightbulbs out they will work for a while. While he is there I ask him where the trash can is for the property. We walk around and cannot find it so he brings one the next day. We could not get the pool to heat and so we did not use it during our stay. The location is amazing but if you stay plan some time to be on the phone with the managers.

Review
The property was so run down and dirty when we checked in. The pictures that advertised the property on VRBO looked nothing like what the actual property looked like when we arrived. It was in very poor condition. We contacted Vacasa numerous times during our stay about issues and although they texted back, we were told the “local team” would get back to us and we NEVER got any responses from them. We left an item at the property upon check out and still haven’t received it back even though we reached out numerous times to get item sent to us and we were charged a fee. The only plus was that we asked to have the pool heated and even though they couldn’t accommodate, which was a big bummer, they did give us a credit for what they charge for pool heating. Otherwise it was not a very positive experience for us and don’t think I’d rent from this company again unfortunately.

Great Location!
Pros-Great location! Close to the beach and great for morning walks. Lots of towels to use and outdoor chairs for the beach. We used the hot tub and that was great. Room set up was perfect for us. The pool has a child-proof gate which was a plus for us. No AC but plenty of fans. Could be improved- cleanliness since my feet were dirty after walking around barefoot and dust under beds. Pool also needed more cleaning. The washing machine was not working. Nonstick pans could be replaced since they are worn. Grab bars in the bathroom with the bathtub for safety would be nice. This is mentioned in another review but the easiest way to communicate was through text, not VRBO app. Overall it was a great stay for us because of the location, room set up, the beach towels & chairs, and the hot tub.

Family vacation
The location of this house is absolutely perfect. The pool was awesome and much warmer than expected which was awesome. The hot tub however was filthy. When I asked the property manager to get it cleaned or asked if they had cleaning supplies they responded with a generic message saying it was cleaned on Thursday (the day we checked in). The hearted was also not working properly and the house was 62 at night which is a little too cold for children. The property manager again stated they would send someone out. They finally sent someone out on the 4th day of our 5 days trip. The floors were super dirty so I would suggest bringing house slippers. Our biggest mistake was not communicating though VRBO to get these things taken care of instead of directly through Vacasa on the number they txt me on. All in all I would stay here again for the pool and the amazing location.

The Emerald Palace - (mostly the color of the pool.)
In summary, we don’t recommend spending your money here! I’ll start by saying we stayed for 6 nights. We got there, and the pictures aren’t what you get. The post talks about a front yard for kids and pets but the front gate is wide open and doesn’t even latch for safety or to keep anyone in/out. We had a big grocery order for delivery scheduled and got there and the fridge and freezer were HOT. We had to cancel that order and figure out food and how to keep the food we brought chilled. Called VRBO for help which isn’t helpful because you’re transferred to the property management company and they said they’d call back but never did! (More to come on that.) Then we go out back, the pool and spa were GROSS! The pool was moldy, green, water level was low, and just dirty! Looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in WEEKS. The hot tub was gross (thankfully not green) and half full of water! What the heck? The next day I call back and complain about the pool, hot tub, and the fridge (AGAIN) and I’m again told they’d reach out in a few minutes. 24 hours later (no notice) a pool guy shows up, brushes the pool, and then fills the hot tub and pool and leaves. It’s STILL green and the tiles are so green and gross 6 days later. We never got to use the pool!!! For $616 a night you’d expect all amenities you paid for; right? Then later in the day the company randomly shows up, no notice again, and drops off a fridge in the middle of freaking kitchen! They drop it and say oh we can’t take the old one it’s the owner’s. Are you even kidding me? In the midst of all this VRBO offers to put all 6 of us up in a gross hotel room as a courtesy?! Seriously?! The kitchen table chairs are SCARY. I’m not sure how they didn’t all fall apart on us. They’re so unsafe. There’s a huge scary brown stain on the ceiling in the kitchen. It just doesn’t have the personal touches and feel of a privately hosted home. Don’t believe the pictures you see; there’s a lot of changes to the property itself that in my opinion take away from it as a whole. Why can’t we update those and be honest?? There’s also a big sign on the wall saying checkout is at 11, but it’s not, its 10, they just didn’t take it down and refused to honor it. Anyways; neighborhood and location are AMAZING. 100% the reason we stayed. So much good food, coffee shops, stores, and the beach are within a 4 minute walk! Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

For the price I would have stayed at a hotel.
Couple things I loved. It was in a great location. Quick walk to everything you need. The pool and spa were nice as well. Check did not go well. Our code did not work to unlock the door. We did finally have a neighbor let us in otherwise it would have been an hour before we received a new code that worked. Kids were excited about the bikes on the front porch but after a closer look they were completely not usable…covered in spider webs and completely rusted. There was a big welcome gift bag which I thought was sweet, most houses I’ve rented have them. Inside we found 3 pods for the dishwasher and 4 pods of laundry soap. How silly….just don’t leave a gift. They leave you barely enough supplies to get through the first day. Two rolls of toilet paper, two trash bags, and half a roll of paper towels. I wasn’t planning on having to shop for this kind of stuff, been renting houses for years and those basics have always been supplied. No towels to use at the beach or for the pool and hot tub. 9 very white towels and that was it for the house. Also no bathroom rug or mat and a very slippery floor when wet, had to use one of the towels for that. Floors were not very clean and there were spider webs all over everything outside. This place has the potential of being really great, it’s just not quite there.

Wonderful location but poor communication
My family and I stayed at the beach house for a week. The location couldn’t have been better, located in sight of the ocean. The house was clean and there was room for the eight of us to sleep and play. There were a few things that could’ve gone much better tho. The heater in the house worked sporadically and it was 45 degrees in La Jolla, so the house was VERY cold. I had contacted the owners about it but never heard back from them. I had also contacted them about heating the pool, which was offered on the website for $100 per day. I never heard back on that either, so we couldn’t use the pool. The kitchen was adequate for our needs but, fortunately, one of us brought knives to use because the knives provided were extremely dull. Lastly, there are two cabinets in the kitchen that are free-hanging on either side of the back door. Neither had anything immediately below, so both were hazardous. As the nearest cabinet was utilized, lifting up too close resulted in banging your head on the corner. I ended up with four stitches in my head from it, after a concussion and a trip to the ER. There was no communication from that incident either. I cannot recommend this home, unless the owners address the issues above.

Terrible pool and hot tub!
The pool and hot tub for this listing should be removed as it it not maintained, very dirty and unhealthy. The reason we choose this property was to have a pool and hot tub and we were unable to use either one during our stay. I even paid to heat the pool before hand. The owners of this property need to get a better pool contractor to maintain the cleanliness and chemical balance.

The pool, hot tub and location to the beach were definitely bonuses of our stay. The property itself including the interior could use some tender loving care and upgrades. The king size bed in the master bedroom took up most of the room space, probably be better to have a queen size. Both bath rooms were very small.

Great location for beach and amenities
Easy walk to the beach, grocery, restaurants, and liquor. A nice getaway with great access. The photos make the property look nicer than it is. I am sure it has been a rental for awhile and renters are hard on the property. Most notably the photos show the bedroom walks out to the pool, this is only a window now. The photos show large trees and landscaping in the front yard, it is now turf and missing trees. These are not deal breakers but slightly misleading. Front porch does provide some extra hangout space. With everyone heading to the beach there is good people watching as well.

Great place - great location - but please heat the pool!
Despite the pool "misunderstanding" we had a lovely time at this house so close to the beach. With regards to the pool, once checked in, we discovered that one had to request that the pool be heated in advance (as it takes 24 hours to warm-up) if you want it warm at arrival, and regardless of length of stay you will be charged for 3 days of heating ($75 per day). I have never stayed at a place that had such a backwards system, especially at this price. That said, we liked the place so much that we will consider staying here again and be prepared for their heating regimen/fees. My suggestion to management - heat the pool always, and add that cost into the base price for the house.

Lovely place for a family getaway.
The home was quaint but clean and spacious. We had 5 people there and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely. The location can’t be beat. Only negative: the kitchen is not well appointed for cooking - lots of plates and glasses but lacking in utensils, bowls, serving dishes etc. and NO staples provided.

Great for a weekend! ...but not a week
This is a little beach bungalow that is a 3 minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in San Diego...so for that, it was amazing! The house itself has definitely seen better days, but the crew cleaned it nicely and the kitchen was well-appointed, organized, and clean. Some of the pictures of this property aren't actually the house - so there is no french door entry/exit to the pool area. The only way to access the pool is out the kitchen door and around the back of the house through a gate...so it's great to protect little kids from getting back there without supervision, but not conducive to be enjoying the pool and inside the house or really even near the hot tub and at the outdoor table. Overall, it was a really fun weekend and the house functioned well for a weekend with two families and little kids. I loved the neighborhood and beach proximity, so I would rent in that area again, but probably not this property. The rental agency was very responsive, professional and helpful!
