Waikomo Stream Villas is a lovely SMALL RESORT property in the heart of POIPU'S BEST SHOPPING, DINING, AND BEACHES. A mature TROPICAL GARDEN with many flowering plants is the centerpiece of this 3.9 acre resort of several surrounding three-story wood buildings, a POOL and children's WADING POOL, and attractive GARDEN WALK. Waikomo Stream Villas 102 is located on the ground floor in the center of Building 1, adjacent to parking and close to the pool. This SPACIOUS (1,050 sq ft) one bedroom condo opens onto a PRIVATE, COVERED GARDEN LANAI from both the living room and the bedroom. The bedroom is NICE-SIZED (208 sq ft) AND PRIVATE, with its own door into the bathroom and a sliding glass door to the garden lanai. The rest of the condo has an OPEN FLOOR PLAN partially divided by the kitchen into TWO FAMILY ROOM-STYLE AREAS: the living room opening onto the GARDEN LANAI, and the dining area opening onto a SECOND LANAI near the front door. The KITCHEN has an open floor plan with two islands, including a breakfast bar, and new, high end lighting. The BATHROOM has a walk-in tile and glass block shower. Waikomo Stream Villas is one of the few resorts in Poipu in which having a car is not an absolute necessity. The best BEACHES, SHOPPING, including groceries, and multiple DINING options are all within EASY WALKING DISTANCE. A bicycle rental shop is a 3 minute walk away. A taxi to/from the airport is about $50 each way. Most visitors rent cars, and if you do, Waikomo Stream Villas is CENTRALLY LOCATED, and all of the Poipu beaches, shopping, dining, and sightseeing are within A FEW MINUTES DRIVE, with easy parking at the door of the condo and EASY PARKING EVERYWHERE in Poipu. Lihue is about 14 miles away, and the north shore about 50 miles away. The lush tropical garden includes mature TREES and shrubs, and many FLOWERS, BIRDS, AND FROGS. The garden's wildlife can get noisy at times. A good rain especially brings the garden to life. Most visitors get used to the garden sounds and consider them a CHARMING part of their TROPICAL ISLAND EXPERIENCE. The bedroom has thick, 3-ply sound-proofing curtains and they help a bit in creating a quiet sleeping environment when frogs are active. A good quality ceiling fan creates a breeze in the bedroom even with the windows shut and the curtains pulled. The daybed can make a comfortable single or double, quiet retreat for light sleepers who need a break from the garden noises nearer the bedroom. The 3.9 acre Waikomo Stream Villas property was acquired in 1980 from the estate of the HAWAIIAN PRINCESS, Bernice Pauahi Bishop (December 19, 1831–October 16, 1884), who was the great-great-granddaughter of KING KAMEHAMEHA I, and his last surviving heir. We think the ROYAL history of the property adds to its charm. The swimming and wading pools were renovated in 2013\. It was perfect for everything we wanted. The complex is quite and beautiful. Th gardens are like being in a botanical garden. Lots of flowers and unique birds. Many birds would visit us on our patio every morning. The condo is spacious and very comfortable. It has everything you need, along with beach items in a closet. The unit is on the ground floor and stays cool. Coming home after a busy day was so relaxing. We enjoyed the pool in the morning and evenings . I think this is an exceptional place to stay. We arrived during the biggest storm Kauai had seen in years! We woke up to the condo being flooded. Host responded immediately and put me at ease. They just asked that we leave for a few hours so they could clean it. When we came back everything was perfect. They even left sandbags just incase. This condo was exactly as described. A little wear and tear, but we didn't mind. AC was not missed! We just made sure all the window slates were open and it would create a nice breeze. The wildlife was amazing! It was the main reason we booked this condo. Frogs, lizards, roosters, chickens, Mina's, and the occasional stray cat. Roosters and frogs do get loud, but we loved it. Roosters would come every morning and beg for food from the lanai. If you are not animal lovers/nature lovers, then this condo is not for you! The pool area is very nice. There is a regular pool with a 8' deep end and a wading pool for the kids. There is also an area to grill your food in the pool area. Don't forget your pool key as you need it to get in and out. Lanai nice. Living area updated and cute. Shower was good. Easy check in and host was responsive. The not so good: when we arrived, the rug had popcorn kernels, did not appear it had been cleaned. We bought air freshener bc the condo was so musty and smelled like it hadn't been cleaned thoroughly. The bedding is old, needs to be replaced. The washer has mold in it, when we arrived the dishes weren't well washed and neither was the coffee maker or ice trays. There was visible dust on a number of items. And the hot tub in the pool area was not warm at all. Overall a cute place but needs a good deal of cleaning and updating. We will not stay here again. ##### Terra And Sam S. The living room sofa was of poor quality and uncomfortable. Accommodations at a prior accommodations contained beach chairs which were greatly appreciated for beach trips. The pool was crystal clear due to upgrades of chlorination to saltwater. As well the bbq’s were always spotless. ##### Robert N. The apartment features a spacious living room, a well furnished kitchen, a cozy bedroom and a bathroom with a super large shower. The position is excellent, close to a shopping centre and to a wonderful beach. On a side note, be aware that, being at the ground floor, some unwanted pests could enter (we found a cockroach in the bathroom, but only once in 7 days). Anyway, it'd be great to come back here. ##### stespamma M. It is technically 1 bedroom, but the day bed is exceptionally comfortable and along with a privacy screen, functions fully as a second bedroom. A forward and rear lanai provide lovely outside space with generous searing. The kitchen stove heats quickly! The whole place is well-appointed. The host is gracious and communicates well. Wonderful, covered lanai, super comfortable bed and pillows and honestly, I didn’t miss the ac at all. Place was clean and tidy but a bit dusty. Beautiful open space and a unique garden area right outside the sliding doors with koi fish in the stream. I was under the impression it was a bit closer to the beach; you will still need a car to get around but it IS a short drive to shopping plaza and beach. NO AC was a bit of a shock but fortunately the weather in Hawaii is beautiful and the fans provided circulated air fairly well. It did however get pretty stuffy at night. You can hear the toads at night which was pretty cool and really makes you feel immersed in nature.
