Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Knocklong?
The best area to stay in Knocklong is directly within the village itself, or in the immediate surrounding countryside for those seeking a more secluded experience.

Knocklong village is a small, traditional Irish village. It's quite compact, with a main road running through it where you'll find the local shop, a pub, and a church. The village is known for its connection to the Knocklong ambush in 1919, with a monument commemorating the event. It's a peaceful spot, offering a real taste of rural Ireland.

For couples looking for a quiet retreat, staying in one of the guesthouses or bed and breakfasts just outside the village can be ideal. These often feature lovely gardens and offer a chance to enjoy the scenic Irish countryside, with easy access to walking paths and local attractions without being in the centre of a busy town. You'll find a relaxed pace and friendly hosts.

Families might prefer to stay in the village for convenience. Having the local shop and pub within walking distance means easy access to essentials and a place to socialise.
