Centrally located in North Kihei on Maui's south side, Kihei is the best town from which to explore all of Maui, including Wailea, Paia, Kula, Makawao, Wailuku, Haleakalā, (dormant volcano) and the famous Road To Hana, with its many waterfalls, swimming holes, rainbow Eucalyptus trees, and of course, the lush green rainforest that is Hana, in East Maui. Sugar Beach Resort is on the south shore of Maui, a 20 minute drive from OGG airport, at the base of the West Maui Mountains, right next to Maalaea Bay. Located along a 4 mile stretch of a sandy, swimmable beach where the waves lap the shore, Sugar Beach is truly an "ocean front" property, rare on Maui. No crossing the street to get to the beach for you! We often see whales (in season) from the lanai. Whale season is typially mid-December through mid-April, with a chance to see whales as early as middle of November and as late as end of April. SB#504 is a one-bedroom, one-bath beachfront condo on the 5th floor, with ocean and pool views, as well as views of the West Maui mountains. It sleeps up to four people\*\*\*, with a king bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. \*\*\*best suited for 2 adults + 2 small kids (kids age 10 and younger) or 3 adults total. The sofa bed might not be comfortable for more than 1 adult, tween or teenager. Whether you want to snorkel the coral reefs teeming with tropical fish or swim in the sparkling waters of nearby South Maui beaches, (Kamaole I, II, and II, Ulua, Mokapu, Keawakapu, Wailea, Polo) or hike through lush forests, splash in the many waterfall pools on the road to Hana, explore caves and lava tubes, attend a Luau, go ziplining, visit a black sand beach, marvel at the glory of sunset from the top of Haleakalā volcano, visit a lavender farm or simply swim in a heated pool, sunbathe, and relax, Maui has it all, and Sugar Beach Resort is the best place from which to enjoy everything Maui has to offer. Please note: we do not have an ice maker; we have ice cube trays and Safeway is a 12 minute drive if you want to buy a bag of ice. \*Note: each year the Sugar Beach Resort pool is closed for repairs for 2 weeks, starting on the second Monday of September; this is why our rates are so deeply discounted in September. To chill and relax, or to explore and adventure? At Sugar Beach, you are perfectly positioned to do both. Central convenient location -only 20 minutes max drive from airport. Stunning views from the balcony offering unusual BOTH ocean view and valley and mountain view. Beach was not really swimmable ( was grey and murky water in October, maybe it’s different during other time of the year) and definitely not for snorkeling. However, very easy and short drive to the best swimming and snorkeling spots. Dina’s Sandwich (hot meal and drinks) open till 10pm, located practically on the “ground floor “ and meal “take out” time always took only 10 minutes max. This convenience alone should add a star. Kitchen was fully equipped but I chose to only cook eggs in the morning and then was gone exploring until late evening. The condo was very clean, welcoming and cozy. It had absolutely everything you would ever need from laundry to beach chairs. This complex is basically a retirement community - everyone seems to be 70+. So for once, no screaming kids and drunk teenagers at the pool or hot tub; peace and quiet! Host is a great communicator and super quick in responses. Would stay again. She says:My best friend and I came to Maui to celebrate our birthdays together. We stayed in this condo at the Sugar Beach Resort and it was absolutely perfect! It’s a beautiful condo, very clean and had everything that we could possibly need or want. There was a basket of fresh fruit on the dining table along with a welcome note! The bathroom had a cabinet with clean towels and washcloths, soap, shampoo and conditioner, sunscreen, aloe, and an assortment of several other items that might be needed. There was an empty dresser to put our clothes in, and a closet with lots of hangers. Also, in the closet were two sand chairs, two large backpacks, and four boogie boards. The bed was very comfortable.The kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need for cooking. There was even a cabinet full of containers for leftovers. They put a few different beverages in the refrigerator, which was very much appreciated. The balcony had a table with chairs and a clothes rack with clothespins for hanging wet bathing suits. The view was amazing, and we saw many beautiful sunsets. We spent several hours talking, looking at the view, and listening to the ocean. The resort was beautiful and well taken care of. The location seemed perfect; close to many restaurants, shops, and other beaches.We highly recommend this condo and Sugar Beach Resort. We had the best place to stay and an incredible week in Maui. Megan, the owner, is very detailed oriented. We received a pre-welcome package before our trip that is resourceful especially about the places we should visit, where to rent snorkel gear… The apartment is thoughtfully decorated and equipped with plenty cable outlets for smart devices which made our iPhone charging a breeze. Kitchen is all well stocked with kitchen gadgets, seasonings …Plenty of towels to use. Two beach chairs, two back packs and an igloo are very useful.
