Basically, most everything was great. The location was great; the hotel itself is beautiful. All the staff that we interacted with were very professional and very helpful whenever asked a question. There were only two things that were problems. The first was the Wi-Fi did not work in the room we were assigned. After contacting the desk a tech rep came to our room. He told us the system was not working in that part of the hotel. I went to the front desk and conversed with the clerk and requested we be moved to another room. He was very quick to find another room for us and told me to call the desk as soon as we were ready to move and someone would be sent up to assist. I did as asked and a worker arrived and assisted with the move to the other room. The only other thing that was difficult was the bathroom in the second room. It was very tiny. There was barely enough room to move about when using the toilet and when using the shower. However we made it work. These were the only faults/difficulties we encountered.

Let me first say that 100 years ago, this hotel must have been beautiful. Yes, there are warnings online that this is a formerly beautiful hotel that is over a century old, and that its age is part of its charm. However, saying this hotel simply “shows its age” is a serious understatement. I would have loved to stay here in the 1920s, when the finishes were cared for and the amenities presumably worked. Unfortunately, what remains today feels less like historic charm and more like decades of deferred maintenance. The couches in our room were tattered and covered with fitted sheets, which did little to hide the stains underneath. We were so uncomfortable with their condition that we didn’t sit on any of the furniture during our entire stay. The bed and mattress appeared to have been treated similarly, with sheets seemingly being used to disguise how worn and stained everything was. The bathroom was another issue. The tub is extremely difficult to step into, and I can imagine it being a serious challenge for an older guest or anyone with mobility limitations. Worse, the tub did not drain properly. While showering, we ended up standing in approximately five to six inches of water. We were genuinely happy to leave. Had the room not been so inexpensive, I absolutely would have asked for a refund. The photos online are impressive, but once you arrive, you begin to understand why there are so few pictures of the property, there is enormous potential here.

I fund the rooms were clean however the parking was terrible and the ice maker on the other side of the street did not work which made in inconvenient that we needed to go across the street to the main lobby. I was also told on my last day before checking out that booking through Expedia the hotel offered snacks which was not disclosed upon us checking in.
