The best time to go to Kensington is during the summer months, from December to February, when the weather is warm and pleasant, making it ideal for exploring both the city and the surrounding natural attractions.

Canterbury summers are typically dry and sunny, with average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 25°C. This period is great for outdoor activities such as exploring the Canterbury Plains, visiting local parks, or enjoying the nearby beaches. The longer daylight hours also mean more time for sightseeing and day trips.

For those planning to visit the nearby mountains or lakes, late spring (November) and early autumn (March-April) also offer comfortable conditions with fewer crowds. Temperatures are milder, usually between 15°C and 20°C, providing a good balance for enjoying both urban and natural landscapes without the peak summer rush.
