The best area to stay in Icó is the historic centre, particularly around the Praça da Matriz and the Largo do Thebérge.

This area is the heart of Icó, known for its well-preserved historic architecture and historic buildings. The streets here are generally narrow and cobbled, offering a glimpse into the city's past. Key landmarks include the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Expectação and the Casa de Câmara e Cadeia. It's a very walkable area where you'll find local shops, eateries, and cultural sites.

Couples looking for a calm and culturally rich experience will find the historic centre ideal. You're perfectly placed to explore the city's architectural heritage, enjoy leisurely strolls through historic squares, and dine at local restaurants. The evenings here are usually quiet, superb for a relaxing getaway.

For travellers interested in history and local culture, staying near the Largo do Thebérge provides easy access to some of Icó's most significant historical buildings.

The best time to go to Icó is during the dry season, which runs from July to December, with September and October being particularly pleasant.

During these months, you'll experience clear skies and comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 25°C to 32°C. This makes it ideal for exploring the historic town centre, visiting the Municipal Theatre of Icó, and enjoying the local architecture without the interruption of rain. The lower humidity also makes outdoor activities more enjoyable.

Families often find this period great for a relaxed holiday. The dry weather means less worry about disrupted plans, and children can comfortably enjoy walks around the Praça Senador Pompeu or visits to the local museums.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, the dry season offers consistent, pleasant weather for evening strolls and dining al fresco.
