Was a lovely property and great location, I would highly recommend to my friends and family. Lots to see and explore in the area, but had no problem just spending time in the hot tub!
Great location, house well equipped. Great hot tub and eating area outside. Lots of room to park. Just difficult to get up in top bunk bed, maybe it has something to do with my age.
Had an amazing weekend with the family reconnecting with the beautiful surroundings. Loved the rustic cabin that was also very warm and comfortable. Will visit again!
We absolutely loved our stay at this cabin! It was private, peaceful, and perfectly tucked away—just what we were looking for. All of our correspondence with Paul prior to the stay was great—he was accommodating and responsive, which made everything smooth and easy. The cabin itself was cozy and inviting, and the surrounding tranquility made it the perfect escape. We would 100% come back. Highly recommend!
We had an awesome stay at this remote, rural spot! A hidden gem.The craftsmanship of the woodwork was obviously a work of loving care. Hot tub was welcome after a chilly walk, with a peekaboos view to the water. The dog had loads of fun on the beach!Unfortunately had to leave a day early with some car troubles, and travel in Easter weekend, but Thank You to Paul for reaching out, and sending help with a boost.Would happily stay again.
This was a perfect place to spend time relaxing with family. The cabin has just the right level of comfort and coziness and Paul is a wonderful host. He was great at communicating and we are super thankful to him for sharing his place.
Great property, we stayed for a week of hiking and kayaking and had a great time despite some wildfire smoke issues. The cabin checks all the boxes of comfort and convenience in a setting of fantastic beauty. Outdoor shower is a great feature and received a lot of use. Will absolutely stay again, as we didnt get to do any of our planned hikes north and east of Duncan Lake.
My husband and I needed a long weekend to relax and recharge, and this cabin was perfect. It feels far more remote than the drive time would suggest, and the cabin itself is cozy and beautifully appointed. One of the best views from a hot tub I've experienced, and curling up by the fire was a joy. One thing: the stairs up to the queen bed are really steep and open. Our 12 yo dog could not manage them, so we ended up sleeping downstairs in the bunk bed (she's used to sleeping in the same room with us).
Serenity and privacy at its finest! Not one person ventured onto the property. The stars at night are magnificent! Paul provided everything needed! We highly recommend this luxurious and rustic get away. We will definitely return with beach shoes, our kayak and my floatie. 10/10...100% Thank you, Paul for sharing your gem of a property!
We had a great time vacationing in the area and enjoying Paul’s cabin. As a carpenter, I had appreciation for all facets and detail that went into the construction of the cabin! Simply beautiful!
Amazing property, most importantly for me, the remoteness, and the serenity of the area and comfort within the cabin. Great times relaxing, enjoying the family time we had. Lifetime memories. Thank you Paul!

My recent stay was nothing short of amazing. Nestled in the wilderness, it offered the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern luxury. The views of the lake were breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop to a truly relaxing getaway.
What stood out the most was the attention to detail – the cabin was impeccably maintained, and every amenity seemed designed for comfort and convenience (Especially the hot tub!). It was the ideal retreat for rejuvenation and relaxation, and I left feeling refreshed.
I highly recommend this cabin to anyone seeking a peaceful escape in the wilderness. It's a rare gem that offers a perfect blend of nature's beauty and comfortable living.

Escape from everything
This is set in a wonderful but very remote location! We came in from the north side and drove the ‘shorter’ route-which is not for the faint of heart-it is a very narrow gravel road that winds along cliff faces-extremely picturesque but a little nerve racking at times. When you pull into the cabin it is a wonderful beautiful location. The cabin is quaint with all the amenities-it is small. We went for an explore down to the lake-this was the highlight of our stay-we spent many days exploring the beach and lake which seemed like we were the only ones there-truly a wonderful spot.
Couple down sides: as the cabin is likely not utilized all year and we came early in the season there was a definite noise problem-we caught one the first day but the smell was quite difficult to handle-the cabin bathroom especially was hard to be in as the mouse smell was almost overwhelming.
We spent our time at the cabin in the hot tub, outside shower, eating on the deck, and enjoying the view.
In summary-if you want to get away from it all: this is your place. We had a great time, would recommend it but know it is far away!
Duncan Lake Escape is the most amazing getaway! The drive is beautiful and once you arrive you’ll feel like you’ve truly escaped to a relaxing retreat in the middle of nowhere! The cabin is quite spacious but cozy and beautifully decorated. The kitchen has all the tools you need to prepare your meals and drinks away from home (from a cocktail shaker, mixer, cake and muffin tins, plenty of dishes, mixing bowls, casserole dishes, etc). The view of the lake and forest is serene and you can enjoy these from the awesome hot tub on the deck, from around the firepit in the yard, or from the comfort of the living room and kitchen. Plenty of firewood is available for the wood stove inside which heats the house very well or opt for a fire outside to enjoy the scenery. A small store/gas station about 7km away in Meadow Creek has everything you need. We enjoyed walks down the beach with our dogs, the lake is pristine, and a long drive up to Trout Lake to explore. The cabin has excellent wifi and when it went out during the snow storm for a few hours there are plenty of DVDs, books and games to keep you occupied. Overall this was one of the best vacations we’ve had and it was so nice to unplug and unwind as a family. If you want a peaceful, relaxing and fun experience to get away from it all, then Duncan Lake Escape is the answer! We will definitely return in the future! If we could rate this higher than 10 out of 10 we would! Paul is an excellent host!
We enjoyed a wonderful getaway at this truly rustic cabin. The antique decor captures the charm of classic Kootenay cabin living, making the space feel both nostalgic and welcoming. Visiting during the cool early-winter season made our evening walk along the shores of Duncan Lake feel absolutely majestic. Our host was down-to-earth, easy to reach, and communicated promptly every step of the way. We would happily stay here again
We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed every minute. The cabin was cozy with everything you need and had a feel of craftmanship and pride. The property and scenery was amazing. An amazing spot and a great host. Thanks so much Paul.
