Booked 2 nights at this hotel, as I was in town for a family funeral. The second night, as we prepared for bed, my sister spotted a giant cockroach on the wall. Since the room phone did not work, she went to the front desk to alert the staff. The attendant offered no apologies, and stated that the roach we saw was really a "water bug" and that they can get in through the AC units. The attendant gave my sister a can of roach spray and said we could use it. There were no offers to inspect the room or assist. When asked if there were other rooms available, the attendant said the hotel was fully booked. They said we could go to another hotel, but they could not offer any refunds because we booked through Expedia. We managed to kill the cockroach ourselves (a google image search identifies it as such), and during the ordeal discovered that the curtains were hiding a broken window with several cracks and a hole as big as a quarter, and water damage and mold on the walls around the AC unit. It looked like towels had been stuffed along the underside to collect moisture. At this point it was clear we should no longer stay in the room. It was close to 11pm, and it was very inconvenient to have to pack up and book another hotel. I began a customer service chat with Expedia on the way to our new hotel to request a refund. The agent told me that the hotel is responsible for issuing refunds, not Expedia. A claim has been filed, but Expedia wont guarantee a refund. Book at your own risk.

The room had a bad smell. It was a sour and mildew smell. The carpet was damp and sticky like something had previously leaked on it. The smell gave me a migraine that I couldn’t get rid of till today. I would have requested to move but I had driven 5 and half hours to Houston. I was tried. I booked the hotel through Expedia and the front desk host informed me during check out, that this was the last room.

The property is very old and we reported our air conditioner was making a very loud noise noone ever came to fix it. The shower faucet is barely in the wall of the shower. Just very disappointed as we thought this hotel being listed as in The Vintage would have been a lot nicer.
