Traveling to Wakayama City for the fourth time, our family (including two teenage daughters) decided to try the Marina City Hotel, and we weren't disappointed. It's perfect for families with younger or teenaged children. There's always something to do, from the amusement park to the markets and Onsen. The optional breakfasts were superb, with something for everyone. The staff are phenomenal, as you can usually expect in Japan. It's only a two-minute walk to a breathtaking view of Wakayama Bay,...

Fantastic immersion in Japanese culture with a gorgeous view of the Sea of Japan and the fishing village. Top rate Onsen. Used the shuttle but we were not provided with the pick up location which was very difficult to find. Make sure you book it as it only leaves once a day. The room had no hot water, even though we were informed to run the tap. The heater was in need of cleaning. Very isolated location with no access to other food options. Be prepared for this.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Avalorm hotel, and are grateful to have had a chance to stay in a Japanese room before the hotel closed. Location was perfect for our needs and we appreciated the experience. Many thanks from Canadian fans.

We debated between the convenience of being close to a train station and a view of the castle. So very happy to have chosen the view of the castle. Combined with the hospitality of the staff we very much enjoyed our stay in Wakayama. This hotel, and the view of the castle, made for a relaxing time.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Gluten free breads would make it more enjoyable for guests like me who suffer from Stage four celiac disease. Gluten free bread would be great to have.

The food was excellent and the onsen at night overlooking the ocean and the lighthouse was incredible.
If you're planning to go to Tomogashima island keep in mind that the ferry doesn't sail on Wednesday and may be cancelled on other days due to high wind. I was unable to make it to the island on my 2 night stay so I suppose I will just have to come back again!

Very clean and comfortable. Affordable and only a short walk from Wakayama train station. Buffet breakfast included. Shopping conveniently connected to the station. Grocery store close by.

Amazing hotel with an even better view. I had a superb view of Wakayama’s castle straight from my hotel room. Of course the staff were nice and the room was clean and comfortable. The location is brilliant although it is about a 15-20 minute walk to one of the two close by train stations. I would strongly recommend this hotel for the view!
