Great Stay in Residential Hilo

The property was amazing! The place was immaculate and looked brand new. The host provided everything we would need along with details about local restaurants and tourist sites. It was perfect for us. You’ll need a car as it’s not walkable to the things you’ll want to see and do but getting around is easy.

Best ever
This was the nicest place we ever rented. The bed was so comfortable. The kitchen was so well stocked. The linens were so comfortable; the towels are plush! We had lots of room to spread out, unlike a hotel. They even have an orange and avocado tree in the back yard. We would definitely stay here again. The hosts were amazing to work with. I hate to leave.

Wonderful Stay in Hilo
Raul’s property was immaculate, extremely comfortable, and amazingly well equipped. He has thought of EVERYTHING a traveler could possibly need. The reference materials were very helpful, and the location was perfect for visiting waterfalls and exploring Hilo. I can’t recommend this property enough. I would definitely stay here again if available on a future visit to Hilo.

Beautiful place
It was exactly what you need and want for a Hawaii vacation stay! Hosts were very friendly and gave you the proper privacy, while still being easily accessible if you needed them. The animals on the property were an added bonus! I HIGHLY recommend this place!!!

Well appointed place decently located for exploring south east of big island
Stayed here for two nights - nice guest house attached on back of main property with some cute duck inhabitants!!! Unit is well appointed with some nice little touches - we cooked here one. Night and spent most of our days exploring so it worked out perfectly - no view or anything form place but just perfect t for our needs before we move across the island to ocean front at Kona Simple checking in and out and a fob provided for gate so all things you need taken care of. A nice property if you like us want to get out and explore Hawaii and need a place to sleep shower and occasionally eat or unwind in the evenings

Wonderful host who made communication so easy through text messages rather than cumbersome method used by VRBO. Every amenity needed was provided. Extremely comfortable bed. We took a walk in the neighborhood to find horses nearby.

Perfect Stay
Pros : 1)The entire house is fully equipped along with the kitchen. I and my husband don’t have to eat outside the entire trip. 2) Neat bathroom and rooms with TV and home theaters, towels, hair dryer, body and head wash, washing machine, ceiling fans, ironing board etc 3) good bed and the other couch is only for kids not for adults. 4) calm and clean environment. 5) owner is friendly and quick upon answering calls for any questions. Only CON: 1) Air conditioning could have been better. The split AC capacity isn’t enough to cool down the entire house . It takes really long to spread till the bedroom.

Super Clean VRBO! Nice kitchen area/appliance. Ample seating at the kitchen table, bar stools, outdoor area. The yard is super peaceful and cute. The property is a great location short drive into hilo town, near rainbow falls & boiling pots. Gated parking was also nice. The only thing that I would say is a downside is you can’t leave the a/c or fans on when gone so it can be a little wait before it cools down. Would definitely recommend!

Aloha Sophia and thank you so very much for staying with us and reviewing your stay. I am happy to know you enjoyed our stay at our vacation rental. We totally understand your comment about the AC usage. The only reason we request our guests to turn off the AC when not in the house is because our guest house is booked almost every day. If the AC were on 24h/day, our electricity cost would be extremely high (electricity in Hawaii is very expensive) and we would have to bring our prices higher to make it financially beneficiary for us. Most vacation rentals in Hilo do not offer AC because of the electrical cost here. The hotel costs are almost double what we charge, with much less the accommodation and convenience we offer. To keep the cost affordable to everyone, and be able to offer great accommodations, we try to minimize the cost on electrical. The ceiling fans are welcome to stay on, as these use much less electrical power and will keep the air circulating.

Wonderful experience!
An absolutely enjoyable stay! This property offers everything you could ever need when you’re away from home; fully stoked kitchen, shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispenser in bathroom, basic workout equipment, clothes steamer and iron, beach towels and all so incredibly clean. Not to mention access to outdoor space to relax in an exquisite tropical garden. My one small recommendation would be to upgrade the bedroom mattress. Still, we would definitely book this place again.

Quick trip
My family has a quick trip to the east side of the island for a family reunion. It was great to have a quiet place to come back to after the events we attended. One thing I would have appreciated having in the space are to go containers for me to pack snacks in on our day trips. The kitchen faucet also had some bugs come out initially. Not sure if this was due to the place not being used for a while, or if it was just because there had been a heavy rain. Overall it was great! My kids (and their parents) really appreciated the different streaming services we had access to.

We are adding them for future guests. As you may notice, we truly do our best to provide our guests with the best accommodation possible. As for the bugs coming out of the sink, I truly apologize for that. I usure you that as almost all our guests (if not all) share in their reviews, we safeguard that our cleaning team correctly cleans and sanitizes the entire guesthouse in dept before the new guests check in. Furthermore, we have a professional pest control company managing our entire property in and out to keep pests and bugs out of leaving areas. However, I guess the Hawaiian weather makes it almost impossible to keep 100% of the bugs out. Nonetheless, thank you for letting me know about it so I can report the issue to the pest control company so they can look at it. Mahalo, Raul Castro

My daughter and I stayed at this location for a week to prep for her wedding as well continue working on CST. The hosts are directly next door, but there location is very private. Very clean and quiet neighborhood.

Quiet Gated Attached Guesthouse to Owner
Relaxing retreat from the normal hustle and bustle of touristy area since this is a residential neighborhood. Expect to share common wall to the owner of this guest condo. Pros: Common Areas Clean Bath Towels are cleaner than most condos Nice open feel (Kitchen and living room, even the bedroom if open the two doors) Bath and shower combo (good for smaller kids) Good choice in furnishings to help cleanliness for high traffic Password Gated. Camera monitoring from the front and back of the house Nice beautiful backyard with mature palm trees Cons: Not central air Sign to ask to turn off A/C and fans when not in house (we understand why, but as vacationers it is hot and humid to come back to a house not already cooled) Only one real bed but was expected Pull out couch not comfortable-due to thin pad so a lumpy feel, ok for young kids Dual washer/dryer combined therefore dryer is not efficient in drying larger loads

There are not enough positive things to say about this rental. The house was the perfect size for my friend and I, with so many details that we’ve never experienced in any other house we’ve stayed before. The owners take extra care to make sure you have everything you could possible need and more while you’re visiting. The property is gorgeous and so serene. Everything was so clean. Raul was kind and helpful if we ever needed him throughout our stay. Would 100% stay here again.

This was the best mother-daughter trip ever!!! And our stay at this VRBO unit contributed to that.The unit was just as advertised and more!!! Easy to get to from the airport. Great, safe neighborhood. Extremely clean. Good size unit. All the comforts of home The hosts were so helpful and accommodating. They had a cool guide book that had lists of nearby restaurants, supermarkets, attractions, and more. We would stay there again for sure. Thank you for a great experience and vacay.

My husband and I stayed in the guesthouse for a few days during our honeymoon. Everything about the house was perfect! The property also has lots of plants and fruit trees to see, which was really cool! If we ever come back, we will definitely stay here again.

Everything was top notch! Beautiful setting! High quality appliances, beautifully laid out guest suite. Hosts and children were all lovely. Wish we could have gotten to know them a little better! Very helpful…lent us umbrellas for the torrential rains, and lawn chairs for the beach. First toilet we ever used with a remote…we may have to invest in one!! Highly recommend this Tropical Retreat. Amazingly well equipped rental
Usually when we rent a property I expect the knives to be a little blunt and the cookware to be of a basic standard. Not so here! We have never rented such a well equipped property and everything was of a high standard. The pictures don’t do it justice, it is a great property. Raul came to make sure we knew how to use everything and was very helpful. I doubt we will ever be in Hilo again, as it is so far to travel from the UK, but I would not hesitate to stay here again. We had a fabulous time!

Great place from which to visit Volcano Natl Park
The property was clean. There was a damaged towel rack in one of the bathrooms and smoke damage in the kitchen from a previous renter. The owners warned us about the damage, and we thank them for that. Besides being noticeable on the ceiling, it was not an issue, and there were no smoke odors. The property was otherwise nice, the home is a good place for a family reunion. The grounds are surrounded by vegetation, and the place is in a quiet area. It is a short drive to the community of Volcano where we found a few good restaurants. Grocery shopping is limited there, so bring in your own supplies from elsewhere.

We had a fantastic stay at Raul’s place. It’s a very clean, professional high-end rental but with a warm and friendly vibe. They even set up a Christmas tree which was a lovely surprise. The guesthouse is extremely well equipped (impressively, with knives that actually cut!) and the beds are very comfortable. The property is perfect especially for kids. Raul’s family is very hospitable. Thank you so much for all your thoughtfulness that went into the guesthouse and the rental experience!

This property was an ideal and very comfortable base for us (party of two adults). The location is close to the downtown area, the famous waterfalls, lava tube and foothill farms. It is centrally located making it easy to plan daily jaunts to the amazing sights up and down the Hilo side of Hawaii. The unit was clean, quiet and had all the amenities of home. We will definitely look to stay here on our return visits to Hawaii and recommend it to others.

First time using VRBO and staying at this property and would definitely stay again. Quiet neighborhood, fenced in yard for parking, private back yard, great natural sunlight coming into the place, full size kitchen with filtered water, full entertainment system with surround sound, and beach towels provided to guests…. this place had it all. One of the Wii remotes needed batteries and Raul was quick to assist and respond. He also greeted us upon arrival to give us heads up/things to know about the property. About 10 minutes from downtown Hilo so it’s close to the farmers markets, and restaurants too! Overall a great place to stay in Hilo!
