"Our experience at this "hotel" was mixed. The location was great, right in the old part of town, basically right on the water. The bed was okay, but not the best. The room was as advertised. There was a bit of noise at night from the pub, but this was noted in the listing. The Nespresso pods were nice in the morning. But there was no soap in the bathroom, and only one tiny garbage bin in the bathroom. Technically these things are not missing, but one assumes they don't need to bring soap...

"Had really enjoyable stay with my family . Clean , pleasant breakfast. Clean hotel . Easy parking space for our car for few days (for free) just under 4min walk to hotel from parking space . We used bus everyday to explore Amsterdam . It cost around £5.50 one way to Amsterdam. Took just under 30min .van pay my card on the bus . Recommend visiting Edam’s cheese museum , local villages ."

"This was a gorgeous room and really lovely property. The village is very cute, the staff was extremely friendly and gave lots of suggestions. The room was clean and the bathtub is both functional and decorative. I’m glad there was a stand up shower as well that was separate from the tub. It was extremely quiet and felt like a tiny house. The downstairs area was a tiny living room and felt like home. Absolutely loved this room and would gladly stay here again!"

I would have given it 5 stars but for the fact it was difficult to find anywhere to hand up our clothes after a very wet journey, there wasn't a grab handle in the shower (which I need) and as the hotel is encased in a large church and there was no external branding, we couldn't find it though it was right under our noses!"

"Staying at this hotel was an incredible and unique experience! The way the old prison has been transformed into a modern hotel is absolutely brilliant. The historic atmosphere is preserved perfectly, and the clean rooms are very comfortable. The staff is clearly understaffed and overwhelmed with duties, but they work incredibly hard and do their absolute best to keep the atmosphere and everything else perfect. Both the breakfast and parking options were excellent. Highly recommended!"
