"It didn't have the best upkeep but the A/C worked, the staff was friendly (even while over worked), the pool was AMAZING and it was clean. Its just stuff like rust and walls looking dingy thats about it."

Skeet’s Retreat: Lake Herman Lakefront Getaway Near Madison, SD - Sleeps 8
10/10 Excellent
"Our family of 7 had a great time! We played on the beach (bring water shoes-it's a little rocky!), played bean bags outside and inside (the garage was a good spot to hang out in when it rained). There was plenty of seating with the table and the kitchen counter area. The cabin was very clean and there were a lot of things to use like marshmallow sticks, crockpots, air fryer, etc. My son loved taking the little mini kayak thing out by the dock and we took the canoe out a few times. My only critique and it's no fault on the owner, it was just my oversight, was that the beach is across a road. The road is NOT busy at all, but with 3 smaller kids- it did cause some maneuvering. Mostly kids are kids and when you get down to the beach, someone ALWAYS has to use the bathroom :D Living room area isn't huge but was fine for us- we didn't spend a lot of time there. The couch was very comfortable. We had a very good time and the neighbors and owner are SO nice. Instant messages back if we had questions. The neighbors took us out for a pontoon ride one night- they were very nice people. Very nice place on a very quiet lake."
Arlington Inn
8/10 Good
"Economical place to stay in Arlington for a long weekend. Room was clean but smelled a little damp and musty. Beds slept good and room was quiet with the a/c fan running. Breakfast consisted of a communal loaf of bread to make toast along with a tub of margarine and jars of jelly and peanut butter for toppings. A couple of different kinds of prepackaged sweet cakes were also available. Jugs of milk and juice were in a small refrigerator to pour and a coffee maker rounded it out. Room had a microwave and small fridge so we grabbed some microwaveable food from the nearby grocery store. 14/81 Bar and Grill is right next door with good food and entertainment in the evenings. Overall a decent place to stay if you want to be in Arlington rather than paying double to stay in Brookings."
