A Modern Scottish Mountain-top Castle in Vermont with breathtaking views

We had a wonderful time at Elizabeths castle. We did run into minor inconveniences while staying for our ski weekend, but it had NOTHING to do with the house or accommodations. Unfortunately a risk you take staying in VT during February is storms and power outages. Elizabeth was extremely helpful keeping us completely up to date with all the goings-on from the local electric company. They were super prompt about having the maintenance crew come by the house to give us flashlights and other necessities to get us through the first night without power. She also was more than generous in compensating us with an extra night and a reimbursement for the night without power. This was essential since it allowed for those who couldn't ski on Saturday to make up for it on Sunday. We stayed relatively warm throughout the night keeping the fires going on multiple floors. The only thing I would warn bookers about is that the 1.3 mile driveway is NO JOKE. Even with 4WD/AWD, the prompt plowing and sanding of the property crew, and experienced NE drivers, the driveway can be a bit daunting. That being said the day we arrived was an ice storm hence the power outage, poor conditions, and low lying branches. The driveway with better conditions the following days was much less of an issue, but still a heads up it is very windy, narrow and uphill. Just make sure you are prepared vehicle wise. This is the only reason I deducted a star from "location/neighborhood". The house and property itself was absolutely breathtaking. The views are unrivaled, the house was plenty large for 13 adults, 3 babies, and dogs. We loved how this absolutely perfect house was pet friendly, since some places that allow pets are a bit more rundown and less kept. You can tell that this house was made with the top quality EVERYTHING . There was too much to love to post everything... trust me you will just have to see for yourself! Even with our slight hiccup it definitely will not dissuade us from staying again. We are dying to see this location in the summer time as well. Even better... Elizabeth mentioned their intent of installing a generator which would have solved the issue we had all together.…We had a wonderful time at Elizabeths castle.
