I found mouse droppings on top of the refrigerator, on the windowsill, and inside the cabinet under the sink. Being nearly two meters tall, I was able to spot things that an average-sized person might easily overlook. The property management acted decisively, releasing us from the contract without any issues and refunding our money. However, finding a new place with three bedrooms proved difficult. We eventually found a great rental about an hour’s drive away in Miwuk Village. We received no support from VRBO (or FeWo), despite their heavily advertised "Premium Protection" plan. I am extremely sensitive to this kind of filth and tend to get anxious and fearful about it, but I believe anyone else would have left the property as well. The manager’s statement that the mess should have been cleaned up is correct in principle, but it doesn't address the question of whether cleaning is enough or if an exterminator is actually needed. For me, simply cleaning it up isn't sufficient.
