"Unique hotel with an excellent breakfast buffet. The hotel was centrally located in Durnstein which is a wonderful village. The price of this hotel was steep for room we received. Non the less, we were aware of the price and enjoyed our stay."

"The attractive hotel is very conveniently located at the edge of the old city. Parking was provided across the street. Our room was compact but very well designed, bright and fresh feeling. There was also a small balcony with seating that was a pleasant place to view the activity in the square. Breakfast was very good. The staff were very friendly and gave us an excellent dinner recommendation. My husband has some mobility limitations and I was concerned that the hotel has no elevator. I explained this at booking and was appreciated being given a room on the first floor, up only one flight with a good railing."

"This hotel is clean and cozy and perfectly situated to visit old town in Melk, including the abbey. So fun to step out the door onto a charming street full of cafes and shops. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful and the free breakfast buffet is absolutely fantastic! I appreciate that the windows in the rooms open fully and also the fun little jars of candy at the checkout desk and restaurant for guests to sample. Tasty!"

"Stayed 2 nights. Positives: Late arrival (22:30) was accommodated despite reception normally closing at 21:00 — appreciated. Good breakfast. Comfortable beds. Nice views from the property overall. Negatives: Pool access: key card did not work; when raised, staff insisted it did rather than resolving the issue. Room facilities: no tea/coffee, no water provided, and fridge not functioning. Ventilation: no effective ventilation, making the room uncomfortable in warm conditions. Temperature control: central heating still active with no ability to adjust, despite ~24°C outside. Bathroom: bath only, no shower — not practical, particularly for elderly guests. Room quality: no balcony, view onto car park, and overall lack of comfort or atmosphere (minimal décor, dated feel). Room allocation: the room felt like one that is used less frequently, raising questions about consistency in how rooms are assigned (e.g. weekday vs weekend stays). Overall: At ~€240 per night, the experience does not align with a 4-star standard.
