We hope to return
We absolutely loved this property. It had everything we needed, was very clean, and the location was perfect. Only a block and a half from 61, it was easy to walk anywhere we needed to go. The fisherman in our group did not have far to go for great places to Steelhead as well. We found all of the furniture to be very comfortable and enjoyed meals out on the back shed/patio. It was also nice to find a fire pit there even though we didn’t get a chance to use it. They had a really nice variety of games, puzzles, and DVDs for adults and children. We definitely hope to stay here again.

Grand Marais in March
My wife, our dog, and I all enjoyed our stay in this VRBO. When you want to rent some place where it checks all the boxes then go here. Clean, comfortable and with attention to detail - this place had it all. We especially loved having some entertaining games of ping pong! Our thanks to Nancy and Matt!!

Quick Ski Trip
This VRBO is great. It is our second stay and it would be our first choice if we come back to the area. Kids love the ping pong table. The house is cozy and inviting. The amenities are great and the house functions perfectly for a family. Could not even suggest an improvement in all fairness! Well done!

Great house in a great location
Even without snow - a first for us on our post-Christmas trip to Grand Marais - we had a fabulous time! The ping pong table remains a favorite, but we also love that the living area is big enough for games and puzzles! The short walk to Grand Marais makes wandering around town and out to the lighthouse a great way to get out and hit all our favorite eateries!

Great location
Nice place, clean and spacious. We loved the location as we walked everywhere we wanted to go. We would have liked some shades or blinds on the French doors in the living toom. Maybe because we live in Minneapolis , but it felt exposed to us to not have the option of pulling shades or blinds in the evening The hosts were very gracious letting us check in a bit early and left a bottle of wine for us. We thought this was very generous. It was a great place overall and we would highly recommend it to others.

Great space
The pictures don’t do justice- there are more comfortable places to sit than pictured. It’s certainly nothing fancy but was a nice clean space that met all of our needs. I wish there were more flexible places to sleep for families (twin beds/bunk bed in a bedroom) so we didn’t have to use the foldout couch, but it worked and was a nice space to come back to. We would use it again and recommend to others, especially if the bed situation meets your needs.

Perfect Family Vacation
We adored our stay here. The home is as beautiful as the pictures. It was the perfect size for our family. The bedrooms and mattresses are comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. The game room was fun and had a great little library. The location is about a block from the main road. It was about a 7-10 min walk to most restaurants, shops, etc. The owners are very kind and considerate. We had a lovely vacation. Thank you for sharing this gem with us!

Lovely home, great for families
Terrific, well-appointed home — very warm, functional and fun. The ping pong table in particular was a hit! Communication with the owner was great and very helpful as we were both navigating a major construction project that was happening on the street where the home was located. Obviously that project was not the owner’s choice, but she was great about updating me on the progress and various logistical issues.

Fabulous cabin in downtown Grand Marais!
This place was great for our family of 4! We love how the house was set up. You walk in and it’s a fun rec room with games, ping pong table, couch at fault I want to hear bed, and has a three-quarter bathroom! The living room dining room is nicely laid out. And Ethan has a washer dryer. All three bedrooms are very spacious and comfortable. And the full bath is great. In the back there’s a fun little area if you want to sit by. Front area is lovely to sit by and have a fire! It was quiet and convenient to walk to everything. This place was absolute perfect for us!

Flexibility at it's finest
We are long time visitors at The Getaway in Grand Marais. Matt and Nancy have always been reachable and very pleasant to work with. This year we had an unexpected event occur upon arrival and we were in need to work on figuring out a viable solution to the issue. Needless to say, Matt and Nancy helped us as best they could through the situation and we ended up having another great family vacation on the North shore.

Everything we Needed
Such a beautiful cabin that perfectly accommodates our family of 4 and our dog. The cabin is clean and has everything that we need, even for the 2 little kids. It is within walking distance of everything in town so we could walk back and forth into town multiple times a day without a problem. Nancy is so easy to communicate with and a great hostess. Grand Marias is our favorite place to be and we will be back soon!

Wonderful Location
We had an amazing time! This place is close to everything. It’s so convenient! The house is so comfortable and the yard is nice for the dogs. I really liked this place and I want to stay here again. It’s so nice when I am able to bring my dogs. It’s means so much. Thank you for being pet friendly.

We had a great time we felt comfortable, loved the space.Played Ping Pong and did two puzzles We did a lot of hiking and saw the Northern Lights( which we were thrilled about) and made good food and got great Tacos from the Hungry Hippie Tacos. A really fun family trip,!

Great Getaway!
The Getaway made our vacation great! The home is a super comfortable and beautifully decorated. The beds are wonderful, especially after CC skiing 6 miles. We played hours of cards at the large dining room table. We watched movies in the comfortable living room. We played ping pong tournaments. We walked into town for dinner. We will be back! Spring Break Getaway
My family and I stayed here for a spring break getaway to Grand Marais. The house and location were perfect! The house was well-furnished and cozy. The kids loved the ping pong table. The proximity to downtown was exactly what we wanted so we could walk to Voyager, Gunflint Tavern and the grocery store. We would love to stay again in the future!

Amazing place

Snowboard trip
A group of friends and I went up to lutsen mountain for a 4 day snowboard trip. This home was perfect, very clean and easy to access. Was blocks from downtown where all the food is and had so much space. I would recommend this to anyone!

Perfect Winter Getaway!
This was our third winter stay at the Getaway, and we continue to love this property! The property is exactly as described, very clean and very cozy! It’s located perfectly within walking distance of downtown food and shops and an easy drive to ski and snowshoe trails! The ping pong is always a huge hit with the entire family, and this year we discovered one of the games kept there, one we’d never played before. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality! Healing haven
We arrived shortly after the passing of a family member. The hosts offered their kind sympathies and it seemed to us, they even had put out extra kleenex in each room for us. The place was perfect! Calm and restful. Easy to find and great location when we had energy to venture out. Hope we can come back sometime when life is happier! Highly recommend this place!

Great Property / Excellent Location
Wonderful home in an excellent location in the heart of Grand Marais, everything in walking distance, just a block from Lake Superior. The home itself was spotlessly clean and well appointed in a pretty, quiet residential street. Plenty of space for our group of two adults, a tween and two older teens. We all enjoyed the ping pong table, sitting around the spacious dining room playing games, and watching movies in the comfortable lounge. I cannot say enough good about this rental. The process from beginning to end was simple, great communication from the owners, easy check-in - zero issues throughout our stay. We will definitely book this property when we return to Grand Marais. The town itself is beautiful and close to other locations definitely worth the short drive to visit.

Wonderful Lodging in Grand Marais
