Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Golden Downs?
The best area to stay in Golden Downs is around the main village centre and along State Highway 6, which offers convenient access to local attractions and amenities.

This central area of Golden Downs is where you'll find the primary services and a few accommodation options. It's characterised by its proximity to the Golden Downs Forest, a significant feature of the region. The village itself is quite compact, with facilities generally clustered near the highway.

For travellers looking to explore the natural beauty of the Tasman Region, staying near the village centre is practical. It provides a good base for accessing walking trails, cycling routes, and outdoor activities within the Golden Downs Forest.
When is the best time to go to Golden Downs?
The best time to go to Golden Downs is during the summer months, from December to February, when the weather is warm and dry.

These months offer the most sunshine and comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. This is ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling through the Golden Downs Forest. The longer daylight hours also mean more time to explore the natural beauty of the Tasman Region.

Couples looking for an active holiday will find this period great for enjoying the region's trails and scenic spots. Many of the local vineyards and artisan food producers are also in full swing during this time, offering tastings and experiences.

For those who prefer slightly cooler weather and fewer crowds, the shoulder seasons of spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) are also excellent choices.
Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?
You can cancel your hotel reservation on Expedia, though it depends on the cancellation policy of your booking. Most bookings are refundable if canceled within 24-48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. If free cancellation is available, you can cancel directly through your Expedia account by logging in, going to "My Trips", and selecting your reservation. To find flexible deals, filter your search by "Fully refundable property" for hotels in Golden Downs.
