Quaint stay at Tar Bay
Tar Bay is absolutely beautiful. Home does not have all the bells and whistles of most, but the view and beach are more than enough. Wind on Tar Bay keeps bugs at bay. Best beach on Exuma by far.

The location was perfect. The house was infested with cockroaches, ants, and sandflies. We contacted owner and she directed us to some ant spray. It ruined our trip. The kitchen was so yucky we had to eat dinner out every night (we love to cook). Huge disappointment.

Misleading and not sanitary
I will start with saying the proximity to the ocean is great. But that’s about it to be honest. I would’ve spent my money elsewhere had I known the state of the home and the deceptive nature of the listing. Here is a list of all the things me and my family found wrong with the property: No kayaks as advertised. Mold on kitchen countertops, inside showers. Peeling/cracked ceiling above master bedroom head. Old brochures (5+years outdated on prices etc). Dust all over fans, dryer sheet in fan blade. No drying rack for clothing. Not enough toilet paper or paper towels for our stay-2 rolls/room. Blow up toys dilapidated. No screens on windows for kitchen. Table for outdoors does not seat 6 people as stated in listing. Pillows extremely flat and broken up in pieces inside the filling of the pillows. No instructions on how to get into the home or even the address until I asked the morning we landed here. Maybe she forgot she had guests coming? Window shades in bedrooms do not stay down and had to be taped by us in order to keep them down- previous duct tape was stuck on them also. Trash/beer bottles and cement block right next to porch on property that had been there a while. Chaise lounge pads are flat and the aderondak chairs broken and cracked- sliced my back and tore a hole in my brother’s shirt.House inside not swept, toothpaste smears on master bathroom counter, kitchen table had stains and stickiness- manager and owner made aware and did not seem to care and got defensive.

All of it is not true. The house is not new, but very well kept. It has little things that may go wrong and we fix it right away. This time everything was working: a/c’s, water, all appliances, most comfortable beds, toilets, etc. The guest stayed the whole time and didn’t move out, and after the stay just wanted money back, basically to have a free vacation. We got the next review right after this guest and people loved it, 5 stars. Please, you can check it yourself. “Reservation ID #HA-9G23C8 We enjoyed our stay at Sea Garden. Amazing location
My husband and I decided to take our adult children to see why we keep coming back to the Exuma’s 😊. The house itself could definitely use some love and updating but the location is beyond perfect. We walked to the beach every morning and the evenings are just as beautiful.

Beautiful location
You can't beat the location of this property! You walk out the back door to the most amazing and beautiful beach. We brought our family and had a wonderful time. You can sit on the back porch and see sting rays passing in the water. There is a coral reef nearby that we enjoyed on a daily basis. It was a dream trip for our kids. And Olena is an extremely responsive and caring host.

Breath Taking Views!
This was the 2nd house we have rented on Great Exuma. This house was great. A little older, but the view and location are unbeatable. Wonderful wrap around deck for everyone to spread out on. Beach chairs were great. Beds are very comfortable! Minimal supplies to do cooking at the house. This house is centrally located so you can easily get to both sides of the island. Very close to town and stores to get needed supplies. Would rent again.

You cannot beat the location of the house. The beach us perfection, the water gorgeous, and steps from the house. The bugs were terrible, which is a tradeoff for no wind and calmer seas. That has nothing to do with the house, just what we experienced.

Beautiful and convenient location, nice employees, concierge service was awesome. Owner responded quickly to our questions. There were no kayaks, but we enjoyed everything else the property offered. Amazing views! Our only concern was there appears to be a limit on water, which we weren’t aware of and would’ve planned accordingly. It dwindles at night and stopped on our last day, which didn’t allow us to flush toilets and finish cleaning. Other than that, wonderful stay in a paradise setting. Thank you!

Tara, thank you so much for the great review👌🏻 We stopped providing kayaks. One of our guests took a kayak into the water under the influence of alcohol, almost drowned himself and has drowned the kayak. The coast guards saved him. We decided to not take responsibility to continue providing the kayaks. They are not listed on the website. But you can rent kayaks and paddle boards on the island. We do loose electricity and water on the island. It is normal at any house on Exuma, we all have the same pipe line system. Sometimes, even a paradise, like Exuma has it’s problems. No matter what, but you would want to come back to Exuma over and over again!!!

Sea Garden is a small, but quaint house located on Tar Bay. Tar bay is farther north and less protected than other areas south, so there is some surf and the water gets turned up and due to this, it is not as clear as places on Hoopers bay or Jolly Hall. The house has extremely comfortable beds. Everyone commented on it. The main living area has a small couch and two chairs so if you have a larger group here, seating can be limited. As someone who cooks a lot, the kitchen meets bare minimum standards. There was nothing in the kitchen except salt and pepper so everything from cooking oil etc will need to be purchased. The deck out back is serene and a great place to sit. The house has seen it wear and it not yellow anymore but that is expected on the shore where it gets battered by wind and sea.

Thank you, Lindsey, for your review. So glad you enjoyed your stay! We try our best to provide a nice vacation for our guests. Tar Bay is considered the best private and secluded beach. Hooper’s Bay and Jolly Hall Beaches are public beaches, and they are good to visit, but not to stay, that is for sure👍🏻 After Covid times, we try to keep condiments to the minimum for guests, in order not to spread the virus. Yes, it is true, the house takes a lot of wear and tear outside, due to mother nature harsh conditions: sun, wind and salt and it’t total exposure right on the beach. Please come back again!!!

We had a great week on Exuma and the Sea Garden was a perfect place to relax and take in the breathtaking views. The house was clean and well stocked and Olena was always great about responding to our questions and giving us helpful info about the house and the area. A very short drive from the airport and a beautiful beach right outside the door. We would definitely stay here again.

I really rely on reviews when it comes to vacations so I really try to be up front and honest with mine. Outdoor area: The view is amazing!!! We spent most of our time outside on the back porch/beach when we were home. I loved that the beach was just off the back porch. The water is turquoise blue and the sand is soft. We loved getting to listen to the waves all day/night. Make sure to take bug spray! The mosquitos were awful! We thought with it being January, they would not be so bad but they were. Also recommend not opening the doors. Even with screens, they get inside. Some of the outdoor things need to be replaced such as cushion covers- they are moldy and torn. Most important, We did message owner about the kayak as its a safety concern. It's broken and should not be used. My husband was out in it in the ocean and it sank. Upon inspection, it had a hairline crack that we didnt see and no water plug. We had to call a rescue boat in to help him to safety as the tide was too strong. Thankfully he was wearing a life jacket or something tragic could have happened. We were told that the kayak would be replaced. I would make sure of that before going out in it. It was important for us to let them know as we would not want this to happen to any future guests! There is one life jacket available for use. The inside: The beds were comfortable. It would be nice to have extra blankets for those of us that tend to get cold at night. They had two but there were 5 of us. The bathrooms were clean. The main living area/kitchen is very outdated. It is a beach house, so we take that into consideration but there was wads of paper towels in the kitchen window where there was a gap, rips in leather chair in living room, and front door not installed properly and sagging. The kitchen lacks basic kitchen supplies such as steak knives (they had two but they were not sharp at all). There is no dishwasher. We knew that before going but wished we had taken paper plates etc as I spent a lot of time washing/drying dishes. We noticed small little bugs on cabinets that we had to wipe up throughout day. Its a beach house so bugs are to be expected but It might be beneficial to the have house/area sprayed for bugs. Tip: Take groceries- its VERY expensive at the stores/restaurants! We took frozen meat, canned vegetables, rice, etc to help cut down on costs! Bring toiletries too! All in all we had a great time! With some minor repairs/upgrades Id give more stars!

Wonderful Family Thanksgiving Week Vacation
My husband and I along with our son and his girlfriend spent a week at Sea Garden over Thanksgiving and were truly blessed making wonderful memories to last a lifetime. Thanks to the beautiful views of the beach and sunrise we spent many hours sitting on the fabulous porch laughing, sharing dreams of the future and talking about how blessed we are as a family. We live in Virginia and my son in Maine so we don't get to be together as often as we would like and we all cherished every minute of our time at Sea Garden. Olena was very helpful answering all my questions, and giving ideas to help make our stay as fabulous as it was. We were so grateful for how accommodating she was for us upon arrival and our departures since we all were flying in at different times. Sea Garden is located close to all the areas we were wanting to go to whether it was the full day boat excursion, restaurants, going into Georgetown to shop and other areas and beaches to sightsee and indulge in. We are hoping to make this a yearly tradition for Thanksgiving and would definitely return to Sea Garden! Thank you so much Oleana for everything!

Fabulous Trip!
This is a fantastic house with a great location! We traveled with our two kids ages 18 and 20. They each had their own room and space to hang out. The house is right on the beach with amazing views and the best porch to sit and watch the sunrises. Location is perfect- almost the middle of the island and about 5 min from the airport. Couldn't have asked for a better house!

We've been gone only a day and miss it already. It's a quirky place, with slanted floors, poor lighting, and a kitchen that needs updating, BUT this also means it is so inviting and comfortable. The surroundings are magnificent, perfection and purely magical. The expansive porch allows for enjoying the beauty of the water. It was fun for each bedroom to have its individual access to a seating area on the porch. It would be handy to have an extension where one can soak up the rays without getting sandy. And, a dishwasher would be helpful. Looking forward to next year to be able to enjoy this beautiful beach.

Perfect vacation!
We had a beautiful time at the house. Just steps away from the water, we loved waking up, having breakfast on the porch and spending the day on the beach and exploring the island. The location is wonderful and the house is spacious, clean and have all the amenities we needed to spend a comfortable week. The description and the photos are faithful to the property and the hosts are attentive and responsive. Cannot recommend it enough, we’d come again!

Best house!!
This house was perfect for our family of 6, and we cannot wait to go back!! It was so clean and comfortable and updated, and the location is perfect! It is close to pretty much anything on the island, so that made exploring even easier! It is right on the beach, and other than the family renting the house next to us, we only saw maybe one other family walk past us on the beach the whole time we were there. Feels very private, but is still close to most things! It is an easy drive from the airport as well, which was nice. The coconut trees were so fun for kids as well! Our kids are ages 6, 8, 10, and 11. I would absolutely recommend this house as well as the Exumas!! Best trip that our family has ever taken, and we cannot wait to go back!!

The perfect house for our family vacation. Cozy living space, spacious family room, nice bedrooms with comfortable beds. Location is wonderful. View can’t be beat. The house could use a good cleaning - rug, appliances, cupboards and drawers in particular. Purchased a few basic kitchen items that were sorely missing.
