From Duresta sofas to Carpe Diem beds (as used by the Swedish Royal Family) supreme comfort is assured throughout and makes this one of the most luxurious villas in Madeira, with the added bonus that it is one of the few villas in Funchal that allows you to walk into town. The open-plan air conditioned lounge/dining is vast (12,5m X 5,7m) and offers two ample seating areas and an elegant dining table. French windows lead onto the garden and front terrace. Featured in a corner is a large flat screen TV with cable channels, surround sound system and DVD. The kitchen is large, contemporary and very well equipped, with 4-ring electric hob, built-in electric oven, dishwasher, double-door American style fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee maker and juicer. A breakfast table benefits from the views to the hills and ocean through the French doors that lead to the front terrace. A flat screen cable TV allows you to keep up with the news at breakfast time. A separate barbecue room features a bread oven, traditional Madeira barbecue for grilling espetada and electric hob and sink. The whole of the lower floor is an amazing social and leisure area. Table tennis, table football and a pool table are complemented by a variety of table games (poker, mah-jong, rummycub, and children's games) and features an outstanding middle-east inlaid table for backgammon, chess and draughts. A seating corner with a large flat-screen TV with CD player (a variety of music is available) is served by a fully equipped bar. It leads to the steps that access the indoor pool and a visitor's toilet. A large office with desk and meeting table can be found off the leisure area, a great solution for those needing to deal with business whilst on holiday. The air conditioned bedrooms are all beautifully furnished; four are on the first floor (three with en-suite bathrooms) along with a family shower room. The Master bedroom is very spacious and features a dressing area and en-suite bathroom with whirlpool bath and walk-in shower. Both this and the second bedroom have private balconies with those superb views. The fifth bedroom is on the ground floor, suitable for those with limited mobility and has an adjoining shower room. All beds are Carpe Diem king-sized doubles with conjoined single mattresses, guaranteeing the greatest comfort. The heated pool is nothing short of spectacular. Very large at 8,5m X 5,5m it is an interior pool with large glass panes that open up to the garden and view, perfect for both summer and winter, surrounded by easy chairs and sunbeds. There are changing/shower rooms and toilet facilities available. For those that want to keep up their fitness regime, there is a bicycle and treadmill on a mezzanine overlooking the pool. Outside The south-facing front terrace is perched overlooking the town and ocean, and is partially covered, allowing the choice of catching the sun or keeping in the shade, whilst appreciating those gorgeous views, perfect for watching the cruise ships arrive and depart and for the June and New Years Eve firework displays. Garden furniture includes sun-beds, and two large dining tables with a capacity for 12 people, perfect for alfresco family meals, and tables and chairs for reading or for those sunset evening cocktails. Nearby The nearest facilities (a bakery and café) are a mere 300 metres away, and the town centre is 1Km away. A downhill walk into town will take approximately 15 minutes to the main shopping area and market. Access to the motorway is only a 3-minute drive, allowing you to easily explore the island. The airport is an easy 20 minutes along the motorway.The advertised prices are based on a 6-person occupancy and supplements apply should additional people join you for any length of time. Cleaning The property is prepared for your arrival. For stays of longer than 7 nights, a change of linen and towels, and light mid-stay cleaning of bathrooms is provided on a day and time to be advised at check-in. All linen and towels are provided. For health reasons, linen for a baby cot is not provided and you should bring your own. Guests need to vacate the villa during a mid-stay clean and change of linen. The villa was excellent all round! Located a short walk from central Funchal was a really plus. The facilities at the villa were excellent; the outside areas were fabulous and the pool and games room were a big hit with everyone. This time for the first time in Funchal and so close to the center. I have to say, Villa Luzia is perfectly located. Close to the Center and in a very nice and quiet location. Ok, the dogs sometimes or the birds, parrot in the neighborhood......but hey, what about some of the neighbors at your place, house, neighborhood? We slept well and already miss the house. It was clean, it's big, it has everything and more. You feel like at home. It's just a few minutes' drive down to the harbor, shops, restaurant, you can also walk down, you can also go back by walk, if you like gradients :-) or take a taxi. Large comfortable bedrooms , lovely lounge Heated indoor swimming pool and we’ll equipped games room Took us 20 mins to walk into the heart of Funchal. Taxis reasonable to get back up the hill. So spacious & confortable. And the beds...oh the beds! Scrumptious! The views of the city & the water were fantastic. It’s was such a pleasure to wake up to that view daily. The house is wonderfully equipped from kitchen to bathrooms to game room. We were two families with several young adults & no one got in anyone’s way. The location was great to walk into the city or grab a cab home if it was late. I could not imagine a better place to stay for a visit to Madeira! ##### Tamara J. Die Betreuung vor Ort war ebenfalls sehr gut, tolle Restaurantempfehlungen und alles lief reibungslos. Van alle gemakken voorzien, heerlijke bedden, huis nog mooier dan in de beschrijving, brandschoon. Grote benedenruimte met poolbiljart, tafeltennistafel etc. Prachtig zwembad, fantastisch terras met adembenemend uitzicht. Bovendien een geweldige service voor en tijdens ons verblijf door Norberta, Carolina en Linda van Our Madeira. Op loopafstand van het centrum (wel steil), erg leuk stadje. Kortom een vakantie om nooit meer te vergeten. We waren met z'n achten van 2 tot 63 jaar. Iedereen heeft alleen maar genoten. ##### Henriette W. Séjour de 7 nuits en octobre 2018 ### 10/10 – Excellent #### Dave Houldsworth 4 mai 2018 #### Luxury, space and remarkably high standard The web site does not do justice to the space of the site, or the sense of seclusion, overlooking the harbour. We found it difficult to get the car through the gate initially, but after a few times this becomes less of a problem. Walked down to Funchal a number of times, only walked up once, next time we went to the market, got a taxi up to the house for 5 Euros including a tip - taxis everywhere, including just outside Supermarket. Is there a downside? Some traffic noise in the early evening, and the surrounding dogs can be a problem in the evening while they settle down. Understand property is on the market for Euros 2.25M, which gives you an idea of the extent and quality of the property - it may not be available for let after this, so take the opportunity now. Backup from Norberta (understand she is the agent for the property) was excellent! Highlight of the trip? Lunch on the beach near Cabo Girao, only accessible by cable car.
