Flamingo Lane is a luxury 4000 sq ft., 5-bedroom 3 ½ bath waterfront island villa Near the beach, we are situated in a large canal basin with views over the water and our large pool is surrounded by tropical gardens. Included is a 8-seat van and a 14' boat with 60hp engine There is also available an 18' centre consul boat with GPS Chart Plotter available for experienced boaters. If you are not confident enough due to lack of experience, we also offer an experienced captain who can take you from our dock to a beach, reef and waterside restaurants for an hourly rate. (Usually available, check before booking) We also have two person Kayaks and a paddle board for you to enjoy and explore the canal system. Should you bring your own boat dockage is available up to 50 foot. This is a house built for entertaining! With multiple open plan living areas inside and 2000 sq. ft. of patio around the pool. Flamingo Lane is perfect for, group vacations and big families. Getting to beaches is so easy. The bars, nightclubs, shops, cafes, restaurants, beach bars and markets of Port Lucaya are just over a mile drive away. For those arriving by boat, we have 125' of deep water canal frontage (approx. 16' deep) to accommodate both small and large vessels, plus 30 and 50 amp shore power for which there is a charge. WiFi internet, TV and water hook up. To ensure your quote is correct make sure you have the total number of people in your booking. The standard rate is for eight guests and for each person over eight up to 12 there is an additional cost. If necessary please check our House Rules regarding number of people. KITCHEN: A huge open-plan space at the center of the house and leads into the TV Entertainment Lounge, the Formal Relaxing Lounge and the Dining Room. The close proximity to these other rooms allows the whole family or group to relax or do different activities but without being separated. The large island with granite counter-top serves as a meeting place for all guests. Ample seating is available - stools at the breakfast bar and stools at the round glass table (and a high-chair is available upon request at no extra charge). This makes it a great place to have breakfast altogether, mix drinks, and chat. ​ A separate door at the back of the kitchen leads to the UTILITY ROOM with a front-loading washing machine, a separate front-loading dryer, ironing board and iron. DINING ROOM: An airy and spacious room with a large dining table and six dining chairs, and overlooks our beautiful tropical front garden. Situated at the front of the house, it is both open plan, so that guests do not feel confined, and also separate from the other living areas, to give a little privacy and quiet. The large dresser contains all the napkins, table mats you may require for the perfect formal island dinner in the comfort of Flamingo Lane. TV ENTERTAINMENT LOUNGE: This open-plan room is great for everyday living. A bright floral three-piece suite, coffee table and two side tables are surrounded by big windows that overlook the tropical garden and pool. Glass double patio doors open out onto the covered porch. A large flat-screen TV with media player and speakers provide a great entertainment area for kids and adults. There is collection of books and novels, as well as a chess set, backgammon, board games and cards. FORMAL RELAXING LOUNGE: This open-plan room is set off by a very large, comfy three-piece suite in a soft, rich red fabric. Accompanied by a big coffee table and two side tables, this is a wonderful place to spend the evening inside with cocktails, watching the sun set over the water, as the glass double patio doors open out onto the covered porch and overlook the pool fringed by coconut trees and, beyond, the canal. BEDROOM 1: Very large room with king-size bed, walk-in closet and flat-screen TV. Glass patio doors (with full blinds) lead out to patio, and pool. En-suite bathroom with shower and spa bath. BEDROOM 2: Very large room with king-size bed, closets and flat-screen TV. Glass patio doors (with full blinds) lead out to private patio with BBQ grill and picnic table, and to the pool. En-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. BEDROOM 3: Large room with queen-size bed, large closet, flat-screen TV and dressing table with mirror. Looks out over our beautiful tropical garden. En-suite bathroom with double sinks, bath and overhead shower. BEDROOM 4: Queen-size bed and bunk beds with closet. Looks out over tropical garden. Bathroom is shared with Guest Bedroom 3 via a separate door in the hall. There is also access to a half-bathroom via the hall. BEDROOM 5/STUDY: Queen-size pull-out sofa bed (very comfortable) with desk and hanging closet. If preferred, this room can be used as an office or study.​ ​ Complementary toiletries in all bathrooms. Hairdryer available in all bedrooms. Bath towels provided. A baby cot can be provided upon request at no extra charge. SWIMMING POOL: ​​​The 30' x 15' large swimming pool is a focus for most guests, as you can imagine! Surrounded by coconut trees and Frangipani and overlooking the canal, it is definitely our favorite spot, too! PATIO AREA: The patio area surrounding the pool is approximately 2000 sq. ft. - plenty of room for entertaining. With several comfy loungers and separate pool towels provided, it is perfect for spending days relaxing in the sunshine or sunbathing. Around the corner from the pool is a patio sheltered by palm trees and complete with a BBQ grill, a big garden parasol for some shade and a large round picnic table for outdoor dining, drinking and entertaining. COVERED PORCH: The covered porch is often many guests' favourite place to relax in the evening. The sofa and armchairs all overlook the pool and, beyond, the canal - which provides a wonderful backdrop for the most beautiful sunsets (which we seem to be treated with almost every evening!) and the ideal spot for sundowners! The house is situated in a large, quiet canal basin with a private dock. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe and the house has a code-operated gate at the front. By boat (included), we are just a few minutes away from the ocean and beautiful beaches (often nobody else there…it's amazing). One of the best beaches is just outside of our canal entrance, less than 1/2 mile away. The boat is also ideal for just pottering around our waterway. By car, we are a five minute drive to all the main attractions on the island: colorful Port Lucaya Market Place with many shops, bars, restaurants and entertainment at Count Basie Square. On foot, one of the beaches is just a 1 mile walk away! We would be close by to assist you should the need arise. ACTIVITIES: Only 60 miles east of the Florida coast, Grand Bahama has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and some of the clearest turquoise seas which make exploring the reefs with an abundance of colorful fish an amazing pastime - so make sure you bring along your underwater camera. If you scuba dive, the shark feed is a must or you can explore one of many wrecks. Fishing. Bone-fishing. Jet Ski's. Kayaking. Snorkeling. Parasailing. Banana Boat Rides. Glass bottom boat tours. They setup transportation from the airport with a gentleman who was wonderful to talk to and actualy will give you island tours during your stay if you ask. Thier home had a wonderful layout for guest. It was situated on the canal and was able to fit my familys 44ft boat when they joined us from the states. The house was very clean and comfortable and the washer and dryer came in handy later on in the trip. The car they had was perfect for 6 people running around to do whatever you needed. The only thing we had a little trouble with was the stove it seemed to have a mind of its own on how hot it wanted to get so you had to be attentive. We loved the pool even though it was a little cold at times. You are close to a lot of reaurants that were quick little drives, just make sure to make reservations with them a day ahead because they can get busy. Also make sure they are open because we learned were closed Mondays thru Wednesday. The owners do stay on there boat right next to the property but you hardly know there there but are happy to answer and quesrions and point you to some places to check out on your stay. This was a fabulous set-up and a great host. We went into it knowing they would be staying in the house boat next door, which is a bit quirky, but, in the end, turned out to be incredibly helpful. Richard was incredibly responsive (including saving the day on Christmas with a wine delivery!) and communicative. The skiff boat and car are icing on the cake. We also rented the larger boat for the day, which was epic. Well appointed place and really appreciated the hosts. ##### Kate P. We would’ve enjoyed speakers outside while swimming instead of using our phones. Would recommend a larger coffee pot and new spare room beds for future quests. Very uncomfortable . We did not use the microwave since it took to long to heat up food. Very appreciative of a car to use but we felt a little unsafe. We had a wonderful time with family. ##### Patty H. We had a party of 6 and came to fish for the week. It was nice to be able to pull the boat right to the dock and have a workstation there to clean and rinse the day's catch. It was a great location to hit the ocean through the short canal. We didn't have to go far to dive for lobster, conch, and fish for various species. The house is spacious and gives everyone their own little space if needed and makes cooking/grilling nice to have everyone move about and not on top of each other. The private pool is a nice added touch when coming in from the beach/boat. Since most of the party arrived by boat, and I traveled alone Bob and Carole were so nice to arrange for a reliable and trusted taxi driver to pick me up at the airport to meet up with the rest of the guests. I HIGHLY recommend Hayward with Grand Bahama Taxi & Tours to get you to your destinations if you choose not to use the van or need a ride to and from the airport. Bob and Carole were amazing with communication and gave a list of recommendations of things to do or where to eat. We only ate out once as we took full advantage of the kitchen/grill but the LaRoc was delicious food/drinks and a cool little vibe. My husband surprised me with a "swim with the pigs" excursion which wasn't too far from the location of the house. It was nice to be able to pull up on the boat and walk onto shore have a drink and feed/swim with the pigs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely will be back! ##### Joyce M. There were pros and cons but the pros definitely out weighed the cons. Pros: The house is beautiful and spacious and the location is great. The proximity to the beach is great, especially if you use the little boat to go to the beach via the canal. Having access to a vehicle that would hold 8 passengers was a game changer and we were able to use it to travel out for dinner and/or shopping each day. Great communication from host who also helped with arranging pickup from the airport. Overall, I would return to this VRBO. Cons: We were not aware that the air conditioner would not be allowed below 74 degrees. While not a big deal for some, it was a big deal for us as many of us get hot. It was an additional $25 per day to get it lowered to 72 degrees and $50 a day to get it lowered to 70 degrees. We paid the extra $50 a day. The master suite off of the kitchen still was hot at night; we think that room is just normally the hottest room in the house. Also, the 2 queen sized bedrooms both reported that their beds made quite a lot of noise when they moved on them so it would wake them at night frequently. I sat on one of them and it was so loud. I would not have been able to get a good night sleep on a bed that noisy. The last con is that it was a bit weird having the hosts staying on site as they stay in a boat docked behind the house. We did feel a bit like we were being watched over, especially when we were outside. ##### Mary B. The house was wonderful and plenty roomy for 10 of us. It’s in a quiet neighborhood with great boat access. A skiff and kayaks are available for use if you don’t have your own boat. The owners and their son were very responsive to our needs and questions. Their proximity (on a boat next door) was great for us as they even helped us fix our boat. Owners arranged taxi pick up at the airport for all 9 of us. The home is beautiful and accommodated the 9 of us easily. They kept the pool clean and are easily available for questions. The house comes with a mini van that seats 9 (very convenient for getting around the island), and a small boat that seats four. Kayaks are also available. They stayed on the house boat on the canal which Was a PLUS in our eyes. The house (and the hosts) were perfect. The house has everything you need and the pool is lovely (and plenty of space for a large family). We took our boat over from Florida and it had issues upon arriving. Bob and his family went above and beyond and supported us with finding/fixing the issues. Each morning began by the pool overlooking the canal and each evening ended either in the pool or on a lounge chair stargazing or both. The neighborhood is very quiet and calm, but is close enough to many services and attractions: the grocery store is less than ten minutes away by car; Tiano Beach is a bit over ten; Banana Bay is a bit over fifteen, and Paradise Cover is about thirty. As a former British colony, driving is on the left and the wheel is on the right. For someone used to the opposite, it was a blast! The home owners were not only beyond helpful with suggestions and advice, they are very enjoyable people. Each question or concern was handled with speed and ease. This also holds true for many of the Bahamian people we met. Even complete strangers went out of the way to help us during the Goombay festival. I truly can't wait to return to Freeport and this home. ##### Michael B. But I can tell you without a doubt Freeport seemed almost totally back to normal. Our stay at this property was absolutely splendid. Bob and Carol, the hosts, made our trip exceed our expectations as they were so very helpful in many ways, especially in deciding on places to visit and dine out.
