"Our stay at Amelia’s was incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating. The property is stunning, with breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere. This is ideal for anyone seeking privacy, luxury, and an authentic Jamaican experience.As a single parent traveling with a teenage daughter, safety, cleanliness, and clear communication were essential, and Amelia’s exceeded expectations. The house is fully solar-powered with strong Wi-Fi. Although AC is available, we never needed it. The fans and cool mountain evenings kept the villa comfortable.Despite hurricane Melissa affecting nearby areas, the property itself was unaffected. We experienced a brief water interruption, which was resolved quickly, and the staff was extremely responsive.Access to the villa involves several stairs, so it may be challenging for guests with mobility issues. We forgot our mosquito repellent and regretted it. The team arranged an onsite hair braider for my daughter at a very reasonable rate. We provided the hair and tools, and the results were excellent. Natalie, the chef, was also available for off-property requests for a fee, and we reimbursed her for items purchased on our behalf, which made it easy to fully relax. Giovanni, the grounds manager, was always available, and Lorraine and team were attentive while still giving us privacy.Communication before and during our stay was excellent. I highly recommend Amelia’s for anyone seeking a peaceful experience. "

"My family and I had a wonderful stay at this property. Great location in Black River on the beach. The place was easy to find, safe, and clean. The beds were very comfy, cool AC, and had great wifi. I highly recommend staying here and will stay again in the future. "

"Be aware that the Main House is set up like a hostel. Luckily there were 4 of us so we did get the entire house. Things to know: the kitchen and living area are not connected to the bedrooms and bathrooms so there are separate entrance doors. Each bedroom has a skeleton key but no key for the main door to lock on that structure. Also the kitchen is shared with employees-they have a fridge next to the one you use in the dining room area. We were told there wasn’t a key available for the kitchen building but we eventually did get one. The shower heads leaked so they were shooting water over the shower curtain and made puddles in bathe bathrooms. Our shower head fell off completely. The fans were not adequate to cool the rooms IMO and it was hard to sleep with the outdoor solar light directly in my eyes, and the mattress needs to be replaced on the twin bed I slept on. The staff was nice but I did feel the owner seemed indifferent when I told her if the shower head issue. We booked for two nights but stayed only one. I the beach is not so easy to access unless you are willing to lift up the chain link fence with barbed wire. Otherwise you will walk a bit along the road to enter the public opening. Overall it wasn’t what we were expecting because the photos didn’t show the house set up just the rooms. "
