"Every single staff member was warm and welcoming. The hotel is well-maintained and the room was very clean. The Japanese toilet in the room was a nice amenity, and toiletries were also available on the bathroom counter. The bed was comfortable and I like the different lighting options you can use. The pool was my favorite feature of the hotel. It's on the roof where you can also access the spa. The pool and hot tub are connected so you can easily switch from one to the other. It's a small,...

"The place is beautiful, in a great location, private and secluded, with nice amenities such as hot tubs, pool, wood BBQ. It looks just like the pictures and overall, we enjoyed our stay. But, - very limited hot water. Takes long to warm up and then only lasts 5 minutes. Not enough for 2 showers. We could only fill the amazing bath up a few inches before it got cold, so kind of useless. - lots of ants, and when we complained, we were told to deal with it ourselves - there was a birds nest...

Pico Dreams - Sportfish

10/10 Excellent

"Great location! Great staff. Safe and quiet"

Hotel do Canal

8/10 Good

"Nicely located, convenient with underground parking. The breakfast buffet was a nice and complementary pastries and water bottle in the room. Inside of hotel and room, it was a bit outdated, but still comfortable for 2 nights. Awesome shower pressure! Nice view on Pico Island from their terrace. Overall, I’d go back."

Pico TERRAMAR & SPA

10/10 Excellent

"This is an excellent place to stay! The amenities are fantastic, and the staff were incredibly accommodating. They let my friend and me use the spa on our check-out day while we waited for our airport transfer, which was such a nice touch. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious, the rooms are spacious, and the outdoor pool is lovely. I highly recommend staying here!"

The Book Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Every single staff member was warm and welcoming. The hotel is well-maintained and the room was very clean. The Japanese toilet in the room was a nice amenity, and toiletries were also available on the bathroom counter. The bed was comfortable and I like the different lighting options you can use. The pool was my favorite feature of the hotel. It's on the roof where you can also access the spa. The pool and hot tub are connected so you can easily switch from one to the other. It's a small, shallow pool, so there is no diving and not much room to swim - all you can pretty much do is just float in the pool, which is really all you need. The hotel is a block away from a park/garden and a couple of blocks away from the marina. Everything is walkable. The front desk staff were very helpful. They gave me great suggestions for restaurants, shopping, and even helped me reserve a taxi tour of the island. I will definitely be staying here again."

Merci pour tout."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Farrobo?

The best area to stay in Farrobo is Ponta Delgada, the island's capital, offering a central base with excellent amenities.

Ponta Delgada is the largest city on São Miguel and acts as the main hub for visitors. It's very walkable, with a historic centre characterised by cobbled streets, traditional white-washed buildings, and intricate basalt details. The iconic Portas da Cidade (City Gates) are a prominent landmark, and the waterfront promenade offers pleasant strolls. You'll find a wide selection of restaurants, shops, and cultural sites like the Igreja Matriz de São Sebastião.

For couples looking for a sophisticated and convenient stay, Ponta Delgada is an ideal choice. You'll have easy access to a variety of dining options, from traditional Azorean cuisine to more contemporary fare, and can enjoy evening walks along the marina. Many hotels offer high-end fitness equipment and spa facilities, superb for unwinding after a day of exploring.

Solo travellers will also find Ponta Delgada exceptionally well-suited. Its central location means you're never far from public transport or tour departure points, making it easy to join excursions across the island.

When is the best time to go to Farrobo?

The best time to go to Farrobo, Azores, Portugal, for pleasant weather and outdoor activities is generally between May and September.

This period offers the warmest temperatures and the most sunshine, making it ideal for exploring the island's natural beauty, hiking its trails, and enjoying its beaches. You'll find average temperatures ranging from 18°C to 25°C, with less chance of rain compared to other months. This is particularly good for families looking to spend time outdoors without worrying about unpredictable weather.

For couples seeking a more tranquil experience, late spring (May and early June) or early autumn (September) can be perfect. The weather is still very agreeable, but there are fewer crowds, allowing for a more relaxed exploration of the island's viewpoints, thermal springs, and coastal towns. You can enjoy the lush landscapes and ocean views with a greater sense of peace.

While the summer months (July and August) are popular, they also tend to be busier.
