"The villa (Marianna) was exquisite. Overlooking Istron Bay and the Istron Hotel, the view was breathtaking. We were able to use the hotel’s amenities including beach chairs and umbrellas, which was nice. Dimitry was a great host and available to answer questions when they came up. Overall, highly recommend the private villas. Just bear in mind that access to the villas is via the Istron Hotel’s main access road so just enter the hotel as your destination otherwise you may just drive right...

"The villa was stunning, decorated with taste and to an excellent standard. Spotlessly clean, towels, shampoo, body wash all provided. The kitchen was fully stocked. The villa had the right amount of privacy. Anastasia was so helpful, nothing was too much to ask. Location was great- we hired quads so could get around the island. "Never seen that, superb part of the world, hotel could be a 9/10 but the staff is horrible, rooms are ultra small (can’t shower without touching either the wall or the glass). Food at the buffet is terrible, almost no Greek option, nothing fresh, frozen food and deserts, staff is ultra rude (when not just away). Pool is dirty, never seen a hotel where people don’t use the pool… avoid if you don’t like a huge effort walking from bedroom to amenities. Again so disappointed by the staff and the way this hotel is managed, a massive shame in such a beautiful country !"

"Hotel area and rooms were nice. You could see that it has been a top top hotel but now some stuff has crusted a bit. Staff in the reception was really kind, in some other areas not so helpful. Food in the breakfast and some restaurants wasn't in the level of luxury hotel, actually some restaurants it was catastrophic."

"Our first visit to Elounda Mare was in May 1987, and returning again in May 2026 felt like reconnecting with an old friend. The hotel still retains its unique charm, elegance and warm hospitality that made us fall in love with it all those years ago. Everything was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained, with freshly painted surroundings giving the property a lovely refreshed feel. While some fixtures and fittings would now benefit from an upgrade, this in no way detracted from the wonderfully relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We stayed in a One Bedroom Superior Suite with the most enchanting view across the stunning Mirabello Bay - waking up to that panorama every morning was truly magical. The staff throughout the hotel were exceptional. Special thanks to the amazing concierge Ioanna, who went above and beyond to help with every request, and to the ever-helpful night receptionist Mikhalis for his kindness and professionalism. It was also a pleasure meeting the interesting new manager, whose enthusiasm for the hotel was very evident. The food and beverage team were excellent throughout our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the cocktail reception and the delightful Fish Night at the Yacht Club Restaurant. Our favourite dining experience, however, was at the Japanese restaurant Sumosan, which was absolutely outstanding. After 39 years, Elounda Mare still offers timeless charm, genuine warmth and unforgettable views. We very much hope to return soon."
