7.2 out of 10, Good, (7 reviews)
"We recently stayed at Estrellas de Gredos and were really disappointed. The place has stunning mountain views and a traditional curved ceiling, but a lot of things went wrong. The biggest issue was a broken sliding door that wouldn’t lock. However, there is no kettle (we used a pan to boil water on the hob) and it was woefully short on cutlery,...

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in El Arenal?
The best area to stay in El Arenal is within the town centre, particularly around the Plaza de España and Calle Real.

This central part of El Arenal is where you'll find the most amenities and is very convenient for getting around on foot. The Plaza de España is a charming central square, often bustling with local life, and Calle Real is the main street lined with shops, restaurants, and cafes. You'll also be close to the local market and the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway often find this area ideal. You'll have easy access to a variety of dining options for romantic evenings and can enjoy leisurely strolls through the town's historic streets. Many accommodations here offer a more intimate, boutique experience.

Families travelling with children will also appreciate the town centre's convenience. Being close to everything means less travel time and more time enjoying local parks or easily returning to your accommodation for naps.
When is the best time to go to El Arenal?
The best time to visit El Arenal is typically during the late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) months.

These periods offer pleasant weather, with warm days great for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the Gredos mountains, without the intense heat of mid-summer. You'll find the natural landscapes at their most appealing, with spring blossoms or autumn colours adding to the scenery. The crowds are also generally smaller than during the peak summer holidays.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will appreciate these shoulder seasons. The tranquil setting of El Arenal, surrounded by nature, provides an ideal backdrop for romantic walks and enjoying local cuisine at a leisurely pace. Many of the smaller, family-run guesthouses are particularly welcoming at this time, offering a more personalised experience.

For solo travellers who enjoy outdoor pursuits, these months are great for tackling the numerous hiking trails in the Sierra de Gredos, such as those leading to the Cinco Lagunas.
